actually doing something productive today

I got a job! \o/ I hope I can keep this one. I start in like three hours, so to pass the time (even though I should really nap, since my mom woke me up at like 7 to get breakfast smh) I'm going to post another fic. It's short, though. I have a super-gigantic one that I should really post first... I'll probably just combine them later when I'm less tired. OTL I also need to change my LJ layout, because the font bothers me. ajkfmnskf.

This was my first fill for...

the pokémon kink meme

I couldn't resist the prompt? Orz. I wrote this kind of late one night, but hopefully there aren't any glaring grammar / spelling errors. I'll probably post it other places later, but I don't want to spam all up in your f-lists.

Title: Teasing (I give up with making titles, srsly)
Rating: T?
Characters / Pairings: Red/Green, with mentions of Eevee and Pikachu.
Summary: "Smell ya later, Red!" Green never knew that this simple slip of words would come to have so much meaning.
Prompt:  ...I brought it up once and felt like a minority. Sleeping in a partner's shirt when they're away or just burying your face in their shoulder to smell their scent better, is it so uncommon?!

So, I would like Green/Red with body odor (you know what I mean) as the kink; one-way or both ways, it doesn't matter to me :D
Warnings: Fluffy. No, really. That's like it all it is.

Green pinned Red to the ground, and grinned, completely satisfied. He released his grip on each of his friend’s wrists, and proclaimed proudly for all of Pallet Town, “I win again! Looks like I’ll always come out on top. You just can’t beat me. Admit it.” He immediately thought the fight to be over, that he’d automatically be the champion now that he physically reigned over his neighbor.

But his taciturn friend had already taken advantage of Green’s boasting and flipped him over unexpectedly, reversing their roles, and their expressions. “Never.”

And there it was again, that intoxicating aroma - it wasn’t just the fresh, dew-laced grass beneath them, or the jasmine-laced winds, but something like sandalwood, and like upturned earth. Green’s jade eyes widened, and it felt like new grass set instantly ablaze by the burning embers of Red’s intense gaze. His nostrils flared, trying to soak in this familiar scent and trace its origin, but he couldn’t determine the source at all.

Frustrated from both his confusion and submission, he tried desperately to untangle himself from his neighbor and regain some shred of dignity, some sliver of hope. As Green leaned forward, he caught a quick whiff of Red, and felt suddenly flustered as he discovered that, as he secretly suspected, his friend was the one responsible for the scent.

He rolled out quickly from underneath, brushed himself off, and silently admitted himself to be the loser without a fight for once. “Smell ya later, Red,” he said before he even realized, a slip-up that later became an unusual habit.

Red didn’t understand, and therefore, just never minded it and passed it off as simple teasing.

“Mmf,” Green mumbled lazily, tumbling haphazardly in the small gap in their shared bed and straight into Red’s outstretched arms. Still sleeping, his partner instinctively gripped him closer, always still determined to exert control and remain the champion - the one on top - even years after their innocent games ended.

From his new vantage point, he could see that their clothes had been scattered carelessly across the floor in the heat of the moment again - Red’s vest spread loosely over the lampshade, and his threadbare ash-mauve jacket spread so neatly on the floor it looked as if he ironed it and placed it there himself.

“Mornin’,” Red whispered gingerly into his ear as he started to stare into space, taking advantage of Green’s weakness again and straddling him.

The Viridian gym leader went down without a fight this time, though of course was the one to pull his friend into a deep kiss. As he did so, he didn’t just breathe in the achingly familiar scent, he tasted it - he could feel the memories flood as they embraced, of not just sandalwood, Pallet Town fields and upturned soil but snow, cold water, and the frost that crusted every corner of his cave in Mt. Silver. It felt sad in a way, but Green figured misery really loved company, and he was always more than willing to provide, especially when it also smelled so much like comfort, and like coming home.

Green broke the rough kiss, breathless. “Let’s go get breakfast.”

Red seemed hungrier for something a little different, but followed his friend willingly into the kitchen. As they stepped onto the creaking floorboards, their cuddling Pokemon stirred instantly to life, and began to play, as if mimicking their trainers in backwards order - from close, loving companions to childhood friends.

Pikachu tackled Eevee as soon as she was on her feet, and the two of them bowled each other into the bedroom, tussling jubilantly on the floor. Eevee shoved Pikachu accidentally into the nightstand, and Red’s vest fluttered like a blanket over them both as they struggled for dominance atop Green’s jacket. It ended with some sort of tie and truce, with the electric mouse coiled comfortably on the coat, and the brown fox snuggled warmly into the scarlet vest.

Whenever Red was away in his mountain home, Eevee took the vacant spot left in the bed and the warmth that accompanied the huge space beneath the sheets. She loved these moments, when she actually had the opportunity to get closer to her trainer, to stay comfortably by his side as not a battle partner, but a friend.

She especially loved when he reached over and scratched her behind the ears with his calloused fingers, and tugged her closer. He hesitated a moment, though, when he realized she carried that familiar scent - like snowmelt. She’d spent just a little too long under Red’s vest earlier that morning and picked it up.

However, he didn’t mind. Much to her surprise, he momentarily buried his face in her fur, and closed his eyes. Suddenly, with the smell there, he didn’t seem quite as far away and out of reach.

Pikachu had incidentally done the same when he napped on Green’s jacket, though it carried an entirely different aroma to Red.

It smelled like warmth, like Viridian City grasses, polished gym floors and years of hard, hard work. It was his next-door neighbor, his friend, his rival and lover all at once and he soaked it in eagerly, pulling Pikachu into the sleeping bag and remembering the ash-mauve jacket sprawled neatly on their bedroom floor, and widened jade eyes.

He smirked as a realization of nearly ten years finally clicked in his head and whispered, “Smell ya later, Green,” before finally falling easily to sleep.
