...and this is what Jay was up to while I was away. I don't have proper "before" pics, so some random pics taken in the bathroom to give you the idea:
And before anyone asks, the story behind these particular pics is that Cassie scooped up Vaseline and rubbed it into her hair. Twice. Within several months. So I was taking pics of the removal process (which is, in case you need to know, cover the Vaseline with cornstarch, and then wash it all out.)
Here you can see the painted floor. There were 4 layers of paint on top of the tile. This part of the project's been going on on and off for years, actually. Jay removed all that paint, little by little.
Here you can see the green that we had painted the walls not long after moving in (covering hot pink), but that we were never quite happy with. Once the paint was removed from the floor, a pattern of white, black, tan and blue was revealed. We decided to paint the walls that blue and make everything else white, as there were already so many colors involved in the floor.
Blue walls. White shower curtain. I have another version of this shower curtain that shrunk on me when I washed it for the first time (who dry cleans their shower curtain?), that I'll convert to a window treatment. Jay also installed one of those nifty curved shower curtain bars that gives you extra room in the shower. It's lovely!
Another angle so you can see the floor.
He also installed a new medicine cabinet and toilet seat (didn't feel the need to get a pic of that one), and somehow lost the towel bar after he removed it for painting. it will turn up, I'm sure. Eventually.
So there you have it. What do you think?
