The Bells of St. John: As I watch with Cassie

Mar 30, 2013 20:26

Scary quotidian? This has to be a Moffat episode.

Cassie digs the new new title sequence. "It feels like you're going through a wormhole." Me: "But, it always feels like that..."

Yup. Moffat.

I pause to explain monks to Cassie.

She's a nanny again, huh?

Amelia Williams!

"Is it an evil spirit?" "It's a woman." Oh, Moffat. :(

The TARDIS is a mobile phone? "IT'S A SURPRISINGLY ACCURATE DESCRIPTION."

Monks are not cool! C: "I agree with you."

C, as we're brought inside the net: "Is that what technology looks like?"

"Isn't that basically Twitter" made me laugh out loud. Literally. (Sadly, it's the only line that did.)

So, Clara's brilliant with computer networks now? Clearly this is an earlier version of her, and this is how she gets to brilliant with the Daleks' network in Asylum of the Daleks.

C: "Oh! The TARDIS got renovated!"

C: "I bet she's going to spill coffee on herself." Me: "It's tea. She's British." C: "I bet she's going to spill tea on herself."

Kinda love that Clara is doing the work while the Doctor is doing the confronting. Do I? Maybe.

Is she going to have to save him? Oh, nope. She's captured again. Less fun. :(

So, the "obedience" slider was just there to make sure that worked? Eh. I was hoping for more complexity here.

The "Great Intelligence" again. I'm going to need to hunt up the Classic Who ep in which it appears, huh?

I just had to explain to Cassie why the CEO-lady was acting like a child. Sad.

"It is not a snog-box!"

Well, that ended...abruptly.

Not my favorite episode ever. It serves, but it wasn't as happy-making as the Christmas episode, by a long shot. Not as many quotable lines, and nothing particularly clever or delightful about the plot. Hoping the rest of the season gets better than this.
