Had a meeting with a committee member today. He's more than a committee member, actually--he was my Masters committee chair, he's the head of the department (our department consisting of more than just comp lit--he was program director for comp lit, but then the department chair for LLC [languages, literatures and cultures] got tapped for temporary? deanship, he got tapped to replace her as chair. Anyway), and I also TA'd for him once. He's been my mentor and a staunch ally for some time. But he's not a taskmaster the way my PhD committee chair is (my choice). So I've got the best of both worlds, really. He's on the committee to tell me how awesome I am, and she's the one who makes me gets stuff done.
So. We met today for the first time since I've gotten started on the rationales. I gave him printouts of the 3 that are most close to done, and told him about the other 3. He gave me some more things to look up for 2 of them, and helped me figure out a more focused framework for the third. He (predictably) isn't crazy about the fact that we're waiving the committee meeting at the beginning of the process, but he's not going to make me do it, either. It was a good meeting, and I've got lots more ideas, and I need to get back to writing...especially because I have another meeting with Maria on Tuesday.
And after that we have an appointment to look at a house in Williamstown.
Yup.
More info as it becomes available.
