An LJ staff member has shown up in the original news post (5000+ comments of DNW!, btw) and is directing people to vote in this poll at TQC. You don't need to be a member to vote; I just did, and I'm not. LJ's watching that poll, so go, and be heard.
ETA: Also, cleolinda has done some experimenting with screencaps of what actually shows up when you connect. One part people didn't seem to previously know is that if you connect your LJ and your FB, your FB (full real name for most people) will show up in your LJ profile. Eek.
