Right. So I've been getting strange BSODs as of late.

Turns out my RAM is fucked. Although, more testing is needed to verify that it is indeed one or more sticks of RAM and not the motherboard DIMM slots. Funny thing is Corsair memory should never fuck up and it was perfect when I got it. Now I run memtest for 30 seconds and it throws about four ( Read more... )

Anth man other than jerking off what do you use your overclocked computer for?

You upgrade/get a brand new pc, and it's outdated the next day, literally.. why do you bother?

But it's true, as soon as you think you have the best of the best system.. it's outdated the very next day.

But isn't that the beauty of Information technology and how fast science can progress and achieve in an area that has mountains of funding behind it?

There will always be better T.Vs and newer phones coming into the market, it's an unstoppable force which helps drive the economy. That's like saying you'd rather wait for PS8 to be released and not purchase a PS3 :p

Anth's PC is a clone anyways, he can upgrade/update it part by part over the coming years and keep up to date ;)

It's an expensive hobby to upgrade lets say for every game released know what i mean?

And comparing a pc to a console is not a good example, it's like comparing a car with a motorbike, similar functions but still not the same :P obviously both have their advantages and disadvantages

Well, I haven't done anything to my computer for at least 1 1/2 years and it still handles new games like COD4 and Crysis just fine.

And a console is a computer, you just get controllers instead of keyboard and you can't download porn onto it.

As for it being an expensive hobby I'll have to disagree, market pressure pushes the price of hardware down pretty quick.

The minimum a person should upgrade is once a year.

Oh yeah, buy the next big game and run it at full specs then tell me if you need to upgrade or not ;)

They do have operating systems... Just like your phone has an OS...

Even your bloody broadband router has an OS. Hell, a router is closer to computer architecture than people think.

Two reasons.
1. So I can overclock the pants off it.
2. I get bleeding edge so it'll last me a while for the very fact that tech moves quickly. If you get the most bleeding edge tech, it'll take longer for it to die out.

One thing I should point out, I could have built a pc for 500-700 bucks less, I chose not to so I can get parts that I can bring to their freakin' knees.

I went through the same phase years ago but gave up as it became really frustrating trying to keep up.

lol @ you overclocking its pants off, if you were a car mechanic you'd be servicing race cars

I'm don't need to keep up. It's still a beast of a system. That's what I mean - buy bleeding edge and you wont have to keep up.

I'm pulling 45 fps AVERAGE on Crysis Warhead. All settings on Enthusiant settings.

Yep, that's one of the great benefits to having a superior system. God damn :P
