Percy Jackson Movie time!! (small personal review)
Percy Jackson: Sea of Monster was definitively my most awaited movie of the year. I wanted to see "Lightning thief" since it was in theathers but for some reason i was never able to, until last year...and i sooo loved it. I had to buy the books. I read the 5 books in less than 6 days, and i enjoyed evey line. I was really suprised to how different the movie was from the book...but i liked both versions a lot. (Probably i wouldn't say the same if i had read first, and then watch he he)
I was able to watch on Friday...and i really liked it!! I made some ponits based on my personal opinin about it.
Loved:
-Nathan FIllion. Duh.
-Logan Lerman because Logan Lerman
-The irony of someone called thor directing a greek mythology movie
Yay!!
-Anabeth is blonde this time. Good.
-Every single of Nathan Fillion's lines (The one of the show's cancellation, omg)
-They finally included mr D. and the oracle etc. (Too bad tantalus was supposed to be in this one)
-The hippocampi OMG
-Tyson!! I missed some of his duh-ish lines (like BAD COW!! or the sea ponies)...but still i loved the portrayal
-It was a lot more faithful to the book than the first one (Except for the last part, hell with that)
-I know its not supposed to be like that (yet)...but Percabeth moments ftw
-Effects were quite cool. That bull!!
Mixed feelings
-Andromeda Yatch xD
-Y u changed Chiron
-Clarisse is "XXL". She was supposed to have an imponent apperence. Same Tyson, he was supposed to be bulky, and child-like. But i liked both portrayals tbh.
Didn't like that much
-Adding unnecessary parts to the prophecy
-Mist as a temporal spray
-Nectar is for healing, not "butterbeer"
-Still waiting for Annabeth's cap, Pan, and iris messages
-No Kevin Mckidd :( (what? didn't match book poseidon but it liked him ha ha)
Hated
-Kronos. WTF. Probably they felt like adding a major and more impressive climax than polyphemus, but this was too much. (And to make it worse, he lasted less than MLP's king sombra. And that's saying a lot)
-Annabeth somewhat portrayed as the damsel in distress...and Clarisse as the cool chick. Annabeth is waaaay better than that
-Silena in the andromeda
Tyson and Clarisse owned the movie. Logan and Alexandra were not bad...but that Percy was too emo i swear. Of course book Percy was worried about his destiny sometimes, but that never took away his sassyness. And we all know Anabethis stronger than what we saw. Maybe they wanted to correct the major mistake of making Anabeth and Clarissse the same??
I don't know if the director felt that Polyphemus wasn't enough for a climax scene, and that leaded them to add a partial kronos which in my opinion was a wrong move. First: because no. Second, Why bothering to add him, if he was ging to be defeated so easily. Ad third: It takes away the impact of being brought back to life in the last arc.
I couldn't be done without mentioning how precious the moment of the rollercoaster was. OMFG
Again, i did really enjoyed the movie...i'd give it a 8 out of 10?? (Too optimistic? xD) yeah, its still somewhat inaccurate, and the kronos thing did bothered me a lot but was a nice try. Im in love with this series, i will even dare to say than more than with the harry potter saga, so im happy to see screen adaptations. I want with all my soul to see Titan's Curse, so i hope they make that one too, along with the rest of the series, but im going to die if they take 2-3 years for each ;___; (Because we know its possible they might want to break "Last olympian" in two parts).
