Am reading a pirated version of New Moon because I enjoy hurting myself. Words really cannot express how much better these books are without vampires in them. They're still really boring, Bella is pathetic, and the writing is bad, but wow... Jacob is a cool person! Not exactly deep character-wise, but I could get into his and Bella's story. Until it got too boring, of course. But man. These books are stupid, and the vampires are key to that.

What does it say about the state of the world that I have spent the last few hours reading that instead of Beowulf?
