Pooled Water

There is a time for everything.
Are you proud of who you've become?
Are you content to say that you are you, fully accepted by yourself without becoming someone else when others are around?
Have you accepted your bad decisions?
Have you forgiven yourself?

I feel that to truly be happy, it is important to address these things. If there are cracks in the foundation of your mind, you cannot expect to build a palace.

When is the last time you kept a promise to yourself?

Is it not similar to making a promise to another, and then breaking it?

Do you trust yourself?

Are your actions determined by the presence of others?

Are your reactions made for their benefit?

How much of yourself do you really know?

We are too occupied with who we want to be, what image we present to others, and how the world views us -- whether for positive or negative results -- that we do not know ourselves. I have met one person in this world who knew herself so well it made me feel as though someday I too would become as centered and as strong as she. She taught Tai Chi, and was the strongest person I knew. I do not know where she is today, but I strive to achieve the inner strength she possessed.

It shows when you know yourself. I know a very many people, some even who read this, who will insist that they know themselves and have no illusions, no secrets, no lies they tell themselves so that they may face the world each day.

I accept that I do not know myself as well as I would like. I am bound by my pride, the whims of the ego, and have a difficult time with humility. But by accepting these things - and others - I feel that I am on the first stepping stone towards becoming complete, to becoming happy with the person I am.

We spend our lives striving to find comfort, to find peace of mind and body.

Too often do we try to fill inner voids with outer possessions, mentalities, and the company of others. Do we think that by achieving the approval of others, we can somehow gain the approval of ourselves?

To adhere to one's own convictions in a still and quiet way without stating them as a means to establish an image... that is true personal acceptance.

Are we capable of this?

Or are we too busy trying to define who we are to the outside world that we lose track of who we really are? Perhaps instead of stating to the world what you are, simply be and show your colors by simply living. We are all multi-faceted and by picking one image, one aspect of yourself to wave under the nose of the universe, you are denying another part of yourself.

The sparkling gem is more desireable than colored glass.

Perhaps it's a lack of personal understanding. We culture our responses to how we think we should react instead of simply reacting.

We are ourselves. We know our deepest truths and yet we still continue to lie. How can you put faith in others or expect them to put faith in you if you cannot speak truly in the depths of your own mind?

Perhaps it is a time of re-evaluation and meditation.
