this seems like a promising start. i like how you keep them in character but different (from the norm) at the same time.. in most fics, by the time chess comes into the equation, spock and kirk are considered pretty much friends. so it's refreshing to see them maintain the antagonism and distance in their relationship. on to next chapter XD
