Science fiction writer Frederik Pohl works on his laptop at his Palatine, Ill., home July 22. Polh co-wrote “The Last Theorem” with longtime friend Arthur C. Clarke - best known for his 1968 work, “2001: A Space Odyssey.” Clarke originally intended “The Last Theorem” to be his final solo project and began writing it in 2002.
