The burdock experiment went well enough, but the recipe failed to explain whether or not it was better as a side dish or a main dish. It was not good as a main dish. Next time, I'll only make it as an accompaniment to something more suited to main dish-dom. Also, I know better what "generous dash" means. Not what I did. At least I like vinegar. It was a poorly written recipe.
The goya (bitter melon) recipe has a little more promise as it includes egg and tofu. I'm just nervous about the vegetable itself. You pick it green because it is too bitter to eat when it's ripe...and even when it's green it is bitter. We shall see when we taste it, though.
