Parents will never cease...
...to surprise me. Contrary to my fears/expectations, they actually called me to congratulate me on my Sarah Waters article.
And that's good.
On the other hand, I went to see "Atonement" today. The film adaptation of the Ian McEwan novel. And it broke my heart. I had to try very hard to keep back my tears. It offered us a glimmer of hope, after a lot of awful things had happened, only to take that away from us. A very sad film. And perhaps not the best film to watch when you feel unloved and crave love...
So, I feel very sad this evening. I will feel better in the morning, I'm sure, but still. Very few films have made me feel that devastated...
Do watch it. It's worth it.
