Swimming in circles

There is something distinctly sad about watching dolphins perform in front of people at aquariums. Even with all the people smiling and applauding I can’t really find myself riding the same waves of happiness and joy that everyone else is sharing. Maybe I have watched The Cove too many times. Or perhaps I see us humans confining these beings into a world that’s more identifiable to our own though I doubt we want to admit that fact to ourselves. I guess for me though, the magic dies when such beings are confined within circular walls, trained and sculpted into something more towards our visions and self services then what nature has given them. Much of this is because we do the same thing to ourselves.

Our mighty society, sentry to our safety and prosperity, demands a certain training and a certain level of sculpting in order for us to perform in the proper way that society deems fit. We fold ourselves onto so many rules, so many expectations that may not be natural to our nature but a product of this greater good, this greater being that seems to want to consume our very souls until there is nothing left but trained animals swimming around a pool doing what we are told to do. I guess a host of Punk lyrics could follow that last line. Yet this isnt about being anti society or anti government. Both are needed. Hell both are wanted to lay the basic ground works on how to live among each other in relative peace. I am talking about the things that dont support our basic needs.
