I just got a phone call to my cell phone, (which no banks know) and an electronic voice told me my (bank's name) ATM card was disabled, "please press 1". I hung up, called the # on the back of my ATM card, and they said they are aware of this scam and I did the right thing, they know all the info, incl. phone number of the scam, and my ATM card is OK. BE AWARE OF THE SCAM!!!!
So if you get a call from phone number 203-322-9876 (don't you love caller id?) and they ask you to input your ATM number, Don't Do It!!!! It sounds "valid" because they seem to know your bank's name, but the lady at my bank told me if I had pressed "1" they would have asked me to input my ATM number, if not also my PIN number. I had hung up long before this, so I'm taking her word on it.
