Last full day of school!!!!!!!!!!!!
*ahem* not the point of this post.
Anyway, I've come to a decision. The brown anglaise, once it has the white ruffles will have enough white around the cuffs. Therefore, I'll wear it with a Regency shift and not make a new shift. Very easy, saves time, looks fine, barely out of date, why not?
And that means it's almost time to start thinking about the Frances Stuart dress. And since the new silk satin for the underskirt shipped today (a very pretty shade of blue that not only do I have a sample of and like with the gold, but is the same fabric I used for the spring garden dress so I know the drape will work too, although it's quite different than my gold) I feel somewhat more motivated about it than I have lately.
I know what I want the dress to look like as well. Standard bodice, sleeves with splits and rhinestone buttons (must continue looking for those), split skirt. I have some striped chiffon for the neckline thing. And I'm going to fake the chemise, I think. The sleeves I think I want have the chemise sleeves pinned to them and I really like the look, but I think faking that will be better than doing it for real. I also want a little white ruffle around the neck, and that's so much easier to fake. I'm not sure what fabric I want to use though. I have some very nice linen, but it's more opaque than I want. Why can't we have super sheer linen anymore? Since I'm using chiffon for the neckline thing, I might go with that, but that doesn't make me happy. However, it makes me happier than opaque linen or sheer cotton, which just totally feels wrong--and too close to my court dress. So I don't know. Maybe really starched silk chiffon? I do like the texture starching gives it, and it might be a better look. The sleeves will just look silly without something very lightweight though, so it's all about compromises. I still have *some* time to decide!
So I think that's next. Although I'll probably start the robe de style soon too. And I need the 1850s dress too. Aiee. Good thing I like pressure :)
