Something I always wondered about on this sweater--stockinette is taller than garter stitch, so how are the blocks on the front edge going to turn out?
Last night I did the math for the original gauge, and if it's right, the front is an inch and a half shorter than the back.
I did the math so it matched exactly, which means that if I want to make the front shorter than the back, it would need to be 18 rows, or, about 1.6 inches. I think that will actually work. Garter stitch is so stretchy that it should ease into the back easily. The stockinette blocks do make it look like the whole thing is a little longer.
If I were to do this again, I think I'd use a smaller dpn for the blocks. There's another Fleisher Yarn pattern that has short rows on the garter stitch border.
We'll see. The good thing is I can pin it together when I get to one block from what I had planned and see what happens. I do wish I had matched gauge!
