My feelings on the semester so far:

Yesterday was especially bad, as I spent all day working on this music mapping project and got nothing except frustrated tears a pile of failure. Luckily I worked out an alternative solution to my problems before I collapsed and was able to finish and print the final poster this morning. Better yet the print itself turned out much nicer than I was expecting, and was also cheaper than I thought it would be. So at the moment I'm actually feeling pretty good about myself, but that's been an aberration from my default mindset these past few months.

Changing topic: are there any Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab aficionados on my flist? I'm looking to try to find a new scent to wear (I usually don't wear perfume because I have a hard time finding scents I like) and I keep hearing good things about them and have read some reviews of some of the scents, but it still seems so overwhelming to me (so many choices omg). I really don't like heavily floral and citrusy/spicy scents, tend to like subtly sweet and warm scents, and I really like vanilla. The last scent I used was a bottle of The Body Shop's Neroli Jasmine perfume that I got for Christmas a while back, which I liked initially but after a while it became too sweet smelling for me. I guess I'm looking for scents to try that meet those qualifications? I'm going through the site and writing down ones that seem like they could work, then I'll narrow it down to a few to order imps for.

The reason I want to try BPAL is because I hear they manage to avoid the harshness of most more widely-sold scents. It's sort of difficult to describe if you don't already know what I mean when I say harshness. Overly chemically-smelling? I don't know, but it's something I encounter when I try on scents in Sephora and the like. Case in point: I got some of Philosophy's Grace body wash for Christmas and I really liked how warm and clean in smelled in the shower, so I thought I would try the perfume. It smelled like cheap fabric softener, as did the other perfumes from that brand. My nose isn't especially sensitive, and luckily I don't have any bad reactions like headaches or migraines that I know some people get when they smell some perfumes. Except, for some reason, magnolia-based scents. Man, fuck that shit.
