watermelon and translation issues

About a week ago when I washed something in a kitchen I have found the sprout. In the watermelons season one seed huddled in a crack between the kitchen sink and the wall and... sprung up. Yes-yes green sprout with a seed of watermelon as its root had fallen into my hand. Sprout was very small and weak. I've placed it on a window-sill on the sunny side in a small glass (I don't know the English equivalent of "stopka") of water. Despite it was washed in very hot water this sprout have survived and become stronger. I've found a pot on... on... on a datcha (those damn translation issues!) and a couple handful of sod.

So we will have a watermelons next autumn =)
