Midlife Crisis Ohmiya Side Story: Playing Hooky

Jul 11, 2012 13:52

THIS IS ENTIRELY darkdropout's FAULT FOR  READING MY MIND AND KNOWING EXACTLY HOW THIS SCENE WAS GOING TO GO AND I JUST HAD TO WRITE IT OUT!!! I HAD TO. EVEN THOUGH I TOLD MYSELF NO OHMIYA UNTIL THE END OF THE PAIRING CHALLENGE BUT...BUT... THIS DOESN'T COUNT AS INDEPENDENT OHMIYA BECAUSE IT'S ACTUALLY PART OF THE SAKURAIBA FIC, LIKE A DELETED SCENE. And septemberbabyy, this is probably as close as I'll ever get to a sequel, I'm sorry! ^^

This honestly is incredibly pointless and probably not even worth reading, but writing Ohmiya fluff like this simply felt wonderful. Ohmiya is chicken soup for the soul.

Midlife Crisis Ohmiya Side Story:  Playing Hooky
Pairing: Ohmiya
Rating: Pg-13
Summary:  A popsicle date

“Date time.”  Nino said, appearing in front of the fish counter suddenly.

Ohno looked up, bloody with fish guts up to his elbows.  “Now?”

“Now.” Nino said, firmly.

“Ok.”  Ohno abandoned the fish he was skinning and walked to the sink with his knife. As he washed his hands and arms, he shouted to the back, “Mom!  I’m going out!”

“Finish your work first.”  Was the hollered reply.

Ohno looked back over his shoulder, at the pile of fish still to be skinned and prepped for market. There was a good hour’s worth of work left.

“Just sneak out.” Nino whispered, already opening the latch door, and holding it open for Ohno’s escape.

Feeling naughty for disobeying his mother, Ohno grinned, and shut off the water, slinking out the half door silently, as if his mom could hear his foot steps.

Nino took his hand, and they snuck out the front of the store.

“This is why she doesn’t like you.”  Ohno laughed, once they were a block away from the fish shop.

“I know. I’m a bad, bad boy. Mothers across Japan fear me.” Nino nodded, with a devilish grin.  “I top the most wanted list.”

“You top my most wanted list too.” Ohno winked teasingly.

Nino blushed, and lost a bit of the cockiness in his voice.  “Of course I am.”

Their meandering walk took them to the river front.

They walked along the reeds until they found a sandy beach where the river bowed and the water was calm.  Ohno kicked off his shoes and waded into the water.  “It’s squishing between my toes!” He laughed, kicking up mud.

“This feels so gross.” Nino laughed and joined him, but not treading out as far.  “Hey come here for a second.”

Ohno sloshed over.

Nino shoved him hard into the water.

Ohno fell backwards, landing on his butt in the shallow water.

Not a second later, he swiftly kicked Nino’s legs out from under him.

Nino fell sideways, shrieking.  “That was not fair! You‘re playing dirty.”

“No, this is playing dirty.“ Ohno laughed, and flung a small hand full of mud that hit Nino on the knee.

Nino retailed by a kicking as much of the river bed as he could at Ohno.

Laughing and covered in mud Ohno finally begged for a truce.

“I want a victory kiss, but your face is a nasty, dirty mess.” Nino cringed as he stood up again, offering a hand to help Ohno stand.

“My mom is going to kill me.”  Ohno sighed, as he looked down at the absolutely ruined state of his clothes.

“Lets go hose down.” Nino offered.

They found a public fountain next to a park further down the river front.  At the fountian, they pulled off their shirts.  Nino carefully rinsed the mud out of Ohno’s first, before tending his own.  There would be light stains, but the shirts would still be wearable.

“Would you stop staring at my nipples.”  Nino sighed, wringing out his wet shirt.

“I’m not staring.” Ohno said, obstinately. “I was just looking.”

“It’s the same thing you know.“ Nino rolled his eyes.

“It’s nice to see them outside enjoying the fresh air.  And they‘re all hard.”  Ohno laughed, reached out to pet one, and was expectedly slapped away.

There wasn’t much they could do about their shorts, so they rinsed off what they could while wearing them, and laid out on a patch of grass back by the river to let the sun dry them.

After a while of chatting and watching the boats scurry across the river,  Nino curled up against Ohno’s side, and they fell asleep.

When Nino stirred, it was to the sound of music.

It already early evening.  He pinched Ohno’s cheeks, and Ohno’s eyes stirred. Mumbling, Ohno tried to pull Nino closer, like he would a pillow, but Nino flicked his forehead.

Rubbing away the pain, Ohno finally sat up.

“Do you hear that?”  Nino asked.

Still groggy, Ohno frowned, listening to the music.  When he recognized it, his eyes lit up  “Ice cream truck?”

“Popsicles?” Nino suggested, raising an eyebrow.

“Popsicles.” Ohno agreed vehemently, already racing up the hill.

After the ice cream was gone, Ohno continued to suck on the wooden stick.

Nino continued to hold his hand as if he had forgotten they had been laced together even before they had visited Aiba.

Nino unlocked the back of his delivery van and climbed up inside.  They couldn’t go into the house because Nino’s grandma would make them leave his bedroom door open.

Ohno thought it was cute the little old lady was so protective. Nino found it annoying when he was already several years into being an adult.

Their feet dangled over the edge of the van, and Ohno’s toes scraped at the asphalt.

Nino suddenly took the stick from Ohno’s mouth, but Ohno had half been expecting it.  He didn’t see where he put it because Nino‘s lips were on his own not a half second later.

He tasted like strawberry ice cream, but it mingled with the chocolate that had been Ohno’s flavor, and it was addictively delicious.

Nino grunted a little annoyed sound deep in his throat that meant Ohno was monopolizing their tongues too much.

Or maybe, Ohno thought,  Nino just didn’t like the taste of chocolate dipped strawberries.

Nino broke away wiping his mouth, and Ohno crawled further back into the van.

Nino closed the back doors.

“Next time, I’ll get vanilla.” Ohno said, making himself comfortable on the floor of the van as Nino crawled back over him.

“What are you talking about?” Nino laughed into Ohno’s neck, and it tickled.

“It‘ll be a strawberries and cream date, instead of a chocolate dipped strawberry date.”  Ohno added, for clarification.

Nino paused, in the middle of his necking, “You’re naming our dates after popsicle flavor combinations, aren’t you.”

Ohno craned his neck, to see Nino’s expression. “I can‘t?”

“You can.” Nino laughed, returning to Ohno’s lips for another taste of the date’s special flavor.  “I just don’t know what you’re going to do when we get to winter and stop eating popsicles.”

oneshot, sequel
