My beef of the day? Candidates! Here is how my conversation went:
"My name is 'blah', and I am a member of Parliament."
Me: Add?
"I would like to canvas your building."
Me: No.
"No?"
Me: That's right, no. Not unless I have documentation.
"Fine." *hands me a photo copy of an act* "There you go."
Me: This is a copy of an act saying that candidate are allowed to canvas buildings, and cannot be bared from doing so. This is not documentation.
"Yes it is."
Me: (and at this point rage is starting to build cuse THIS GUY SHOULD KNOW WHAT I MEAN). Look... This act says a 'candidate' is allowed to canvas. The documentation I am looking for is 'prove to me you are who you say you are'.
"Oh..."
Me: Look...I'm gonna take it on your word you are who you say your are. Start at the 6th floor, work you way down. You may get negative reactions from people as they do not like canvassers. This is a secure building. I don't let anyone in unless I know who they are, work for the police or sheriff's dep, or are with CFS. For the future, have something that says you are who you say you are other than a 500 dollar suit and a 60 dollar haircut.
