Fighting

I have been very unhappy because I have not bee fighting.  In an attempt to resolve this I managed to break loose and go to BART last night.

The main takeaway from everything is that because I depend on my reflexive responses so much, when I do not fight I lose the timing and sense of time needed for them to work.  Which sort of sucks since the people I was fighting were good enough that I could not fake it.

Fought everyone except Hagan, and felt pretty decent on the things I was doing.

As usual Miles flat out was quick.  I hit him a couple of times by checking the start of his attack and then moving in under his attack.  But I cannot depend on it and his range is greater than mine.  I do think that I was able to help his fight a little by showing him some small move and though process stuff.

Fighting Sigifreth was interesting.  He discovered that I like A range fights, and the I love slots shots.  I do however hate the strategic retreat style.  We have an interesting discussion about changing my sword style to a tip weighted stick.  I see issues with that, but it is interesting.

Loy was spot on, and his defense has improved to the point that I had to give too much up to get there.

Uther showed me the shot he has dialed my head in on, and I know why it works.  I need to find a way to stop the hand at the source when he (and others) set themselves at that point.  I did manage to lay stick on him a couple of times, but it was him trying things, not great skill on my part.  It was a little frustrating because I hit him on the slot, and was reminded that his students all have the slot open on their first off-side shot.  I tried to explain it, but my head was dumb and the communication was off.

I need to find a way to force myself back into it before I become just another old fighter who does not really fight any more.

Peace out y'all!
