The King’s Steward was tired. Snow was in his hair, his beard - put there by age, not a cold North wind. Boromir looked across Meduseld’s hearth; there was barely any silver among Theodred’s golden locks. ‘Humph… Rohirric blood…’ but surly thoughts fled as they reminisced about their journey from Edoras to Rivendell and back to Gondor, of Moria, Dwimordene, and the fateful moment on Amon Hen when a lover’s intuition saved a life.
‘We’re getting old’, he thought. Glancing up, he saw again the warmth in Theodred’s eyes. Time stilled, snow melted, they both smiled quietly, anticipating renewing lover’s vows.
