I apologise in advance for the length of this post, been rather busy recently.
Well, a lot has happened since I last posted. I've spent a couple of days at a work conference in Glasgow, failing completely to meet up with my cousin who I thought lived in Ayr. I've also been off to Copenhagen for a 2 1/2day conference on d-cache (a distributed disk aggregation system), direct flights from Manchester on SAS. The flights themselves were comfortable enough, even if i ended up sat next to the engine on the way out. I think i like Copenhagen, The weather helped, sunny but not too hot. I did manage to take some photos that I plan to put up online, but i've not had a chance to work through them yet.
Last week Oliver, Suzanne, Amy and myself had a relaxing break on the wonderful southern hebridean Island that is Islay. Much whisky was drunk, and many, many bottles were purchased, quite how we managed to get 15+bottles back in the car I really don't know. I think Oliver and Suzanne enjoyed themselves, they seemed to like the cottage we rented anyhow.
Things are starting to get a little interesting as we head towards the wedding at the end of next month, lots of small bills to pay (flowers, cake etc. etc.), and trivial things like kicking the best man (hi Oliver!) into getting the stag-do sorted, it sounds like a traditional stag-do, go do some outdoor activity, then get drunk and humiliate the groom before nursing heads the following day.
I feel like i'm failling in my goal to get to under 17Stone before the wedding (Islay will have something to do with that, I put on 4lb whilst i was out there). but as i'm not going away again until just before the wedding (another work meeting, this time in Oxford). I have 1 big project at home, the dining room, it was my study, so has a v.large desk and piles of paper and random junk in it. It's now going to be the guest room, so I have to take most of the rubbish out and sort out all of my stuff before taking the desk apart and building the guest bed. Once that's done I'll have space to store my bike again, so hopefully i can start to go out riding in the evenings.
