Fulfillment on the sidewalk

Walked Butter from the corner of Sherman and N. Sherman past Tenney Locks and back today. A wonderful day and very breezy, which always seems to fill Butter with extra joy (I'm sure it's all the smells wafting through the air). Near the end of our walk, a woman and a man were walking arm in arm towards us. I would guess she was in her late fifties and he was in his early thirties. She asked if they could pet Butter and I said yes. I then realized that this was her son and that he was blind. She put his hand on Butter's head and described her to him as he pet her (making me all bashful when she mentioned how pretty she is). It was so gratifying to be a part of that -- and it definitely made me think more seriously about the possibility of getting her therapy dog training down the road. I mean, this puppy gives so much happiness to T and me just by existing; it's amazing to think of how much larger her capacity could be to spread joy to others. Dogs are special.

And now I'm going to go give my kitties some extra love (they're special too).
