Summary: The second part of the last one. From Yamapi's point of view. This was surprisingly harder to write, despite the fact that writing Yamapi usually comes easy to me.
It's weird to see someone grow up right before one's eyes. It's even stranger when one's feelings for them only grow larger over time instead of diminishing like one had expected them to - hoped that they would. Except Yamashita Tomohisa still had feelings for Tegoshi Yuya - feelings that he had gotten over the years of working together and just wouldn't go away. But he was the sempai, meant to set a good example and lead the younger generation to do good deeds or in his case, learn how to give the right amount of fanservice in order to keep your popularity up. Either way, a sempai does not fall in love with his junior. Never.
There had to be a rule out there against it. If not, then Yamapi definitely should write it. It was distracting to fall in love with someone you worked with. For one thing, he felt the need to always to get Tegoshi's attention on him. So when Tegoshi was still taping his interview and seeing that it was already ruined by the "stagehands," Yamapi decided that he'd try to get his attention by cutting into his interview. (After all, what else was there to say after seeing Koyama and Shige carrying a ladder back and forth?)
"Look at me," he said, jumping in front of Tegoshi (although not really jumping).
Behind him, he could hear the bubbly laughter of Tegoshi and almost smiled (but that'd ruin his image right now). It was infectious when one heard Tegoshi laugh. It always felt natural and from the heart that one couldn't help but join in. Tegoshi was trying to gain control of his interview again and started calling Yamapi, "Yamashita-san" repeatedly. Why was just saying a title so mesmerizing?
Yamapi barely turned to look at him and when he did, Tegoshi was grinning at him. "You can go next," the younger boy said. "Just wait a minute."
"Later?" Yamapi almost snapped a few seconds later, playing his persona to a T.
Tegoshi laughed again and repeated himself, "Just one more minute."
"I'm waiting," Yamapi said, pointing at his watch, and Tegoshi quickly changed it to 20 seconds.
Yamapi nodded stoically as he headed towards his photoshoot area. He could hear strains of Tegoshi's voice and for some reason, it came off sounding like he was singing. If he had been singing, Yamapi wouldn't have been surprised. With Tegoshi, his voice always sounded musical, whether he was talking or laughing or actually singing. It was one of the most comforting voices to Yamapi and he absolutely adored listening to him every second he could get. (It was one of the reasons why he listened to NewS songs so much.)
A second later, Yamapi stared at the camera in front of him. Who had decided that Tegoshi would get a camera and film him. Who was that damn smart-ass? He'd hunt them down and smack him because he felt like Tegoshi's whole being was looking into his entire self and taking learning things that he did not want revealed. He had to fight to glare at the camera and keep his persona intact as the older, strict sempai.
They did their little game as always and Yamapi fought to keep a serious face. However, once the cameras were off, he returned back to what he felt was his self. He called Tegoshi to follow to the photoshoot (for entertainment purposes, of course) and smiled when he could see the grin on the boy's face.
Maybe one day, he'd give up on these feelings.
Maybe not.
Or maybe, he could feel as though he was ready to bare his soul in such a way and finally reveal just how much he adored the younger boy.
Just maybe.
