Crushing

Koyama/Yamapi. Yamapi's crush on Koyama is starting to annoy Ryo. To the point that Ryo just takes things in his own hands.

Yamapi thought his fascination with Koyama was starting to get a little ridiculous. He didn't remember ever staring as Koyama would enter the room, face a little flushed from the cold as he unwrapped his scarf, each turn revealing a little bit more of his neck that Yamapi hadn't seen before. Yamapi swallowed when Koyama would shrug off his heavy coat, then throw his head back in laughter over something Shige said. Then Koyama would comb a hand through his hair, giving it that fussy look without looking too messy and Yamapi wondered if it'd be weird if he reached over to pat it down and make it neat again.

"Your mouth's open," Ryo snorted beside him.

Yamapi flushed, looking over. "Shut up."

"Seriously. Googly eyes are not attractive on you."

Yamapi frowned. "I was not making--"

"Yes, yes you were," Ryo interrupted. "And when are you going to get over yourself and just ask him out? It's getting annoying watching you puppy worship him."

"I am not--"

"Yes, yes you are," Ryo cut in again. Yamapi frowned at him. "At this rate, we're going to have to do something for you guys. And you do not want Tegoshi planning."

Yamapi paled. "There's nothing to plan anyway. It's just a passing thing."

"What is?" Yamapi's head turned to see Koyama blinking at them curiously. Ryo withheld a laugh--kinda, sorta. Not at all. All that was missing was the pointing.

"Um. The idea that I could be a doctor," Yamapi blurted out, the first thing that he could think of.

Koyama blinked. "Well, you could if you really wanted it. It'd be a little tough, ne?"

Yamapi chuckled awkwardly. "Um, yeah. I don't think I could deal with all the studying."

Koyama beamed brightly. "Whatever you think is good." With that, Koyama moved over to Tegoshi, asking if the younger boy wanted some tea or anything. Yamapi watched, then let out a sigh of relief.

"Yeah, you're not crushing," Ryo said after a minute of silence.

"Shut up," Yamapi snapped.

--

Yamapi couldn't understand why this was so awkward for him. Sure, he'd had his crushes--males and females, he didn't mind either--but something about this made Yamapi squelch at the idea of actually making any "move" on Koyama.

"If you tell me that he's the one, I am going to hit you," Ryo said as Yamapi, Ryo, and Jin played Mario Kart, sitting on Yamapi's couch.

Yamapi rolled his eyes. "Dramatic much? It's nothing like that."

"Maybe it's because you work with him?" Jin suggested, leaning to the right as he tried to make a turn on the screen.

"That sounds logical. I'm impressed, Bakanishi," Ryo replied, right after he pumped his fist in the air, winning first in the race.

Jin stuck his tongue out, winning second. "I have my moments."

"Mm," Yamapi said distractedly as his car scored tenth place. Ryo and Jin exchanged glances before shaking their heads.

"Again?" Jin asked.

"Yeah, I've never beaten Pi so many times before."

Yamapi made another noise, too distracted in his own thoughts to even protest.

--

Koyama was the one that approached him. "Yamapi, are you free for dinner tomorrow?"

It took a second before Yamapi realized the thunk that came after the question didn't have anything to do with Koyama and more to do with the bottle of water that he had been holding. Yamapi flushed, picking up the bottle before standing back up to meet Koyama's expecting gaze. "Um, I. Yes?"

Koyama beamed--a sight that made Yamapi's stomach turn--and cheerfully said, "Great! I'll tell Ryo-chan that you said yes too."

Yamapi blinked. "Eh?"

"Ryo suggested we all have dinner together. Shige and Tegoshi both have tests to study for and Massu said something about filming, but if it's just the three of us, that's okay, right?" Koyama counted off the members with his fingers, as though he would forget one of them if he wasn't careful.

"Right," Yamapi echoed. Koyama beamed again before heading to the other half of the room, just as Ryo popped up beside him. Yamapi blinked at his sudden appearance before his mind caught up with him and he started to say, "You're not--"

"Don't worry, I'll find some way to get out of it. So you and your crush can be alone at dinner. Don't waste this," Ryo said warningly.

Yamapi blinked. "Wait, this was for me?"

Ryo sighed, hanging his head. "Pi, I never figured you to be this slow." Yamapi frowned. "Just enjoy yourself. You still know how to have a date, right?"

Yamapi's frown deepened. "Shut up. I don't need your help with that too."

"Are you sure? I can give you some pointers." Yamapi rolled his eyes, shoving Ryo.

"Shut up, ass. I can take it from here."

"You'd better. I don't want to deal anymore with your fawning."

Yamapi rolled his eyes again.

--

It's not that Yamapi's nervous or anything. It just so happens that his water spilled a little; he dropped a bit of rice on his lap and tried to brush it off discretely but only served to spill more water onto the table; he accidentally flung his head back too far when he was laughing at some story Koyama told that he knocked into a passing waiter and got more water spilled down his front.

Yamapi declared that he was breaking ties with water from now on.

Koyama laughed, commenting that that would be a little difficult, before pulling out his keys and opening the lock to his apartment, the closest to the restaurant. "It's too bad Ryo-chan's not here. He missed out."

"While I'm thankful because I can just imagine the comments," Yamapi grumbled, trying to focus more on the fact that his shirt was dripping wet and he needed dry clothes than the fact that he was currently standing in Koyama's place after what seemed like a date--embarrassing moments and all.

Koyama grinned. "Isn't that half the fun?" he threw over his shoulder before disappearing into his bedroom. Yamapi sighed, removing his jacket and placing it neatly over some chair. Koyama walked out a second later, his jacket gone and the flush on his face from the cold still there, and a shirt in his hands. "Here you go. It'll be warmer in this than in that. I'll put it in the wash." Koyama grinned again.

It's not like Yamapi had never been shirtless in front of Koyama, but as he stripped off his outer shirt and shrugged into the new shirt Koyama'd given him, something about Koyama's unmoving gaze made him go red. "Thanks," he said, just to break the silence. "I'll make sure to give it back to you." Yamapi made a move to grab his jacket and in his mind, he had all his actions mapped out, just for safety's sake (he couldn't risk looking like an idiot even more).

Halfway to the door, Koyama's "Is that how you end every date?" stopped Yamapi in his tracks. Slowly, Yamapi turned on his heel to face Koyama who was leaning against one of his chairs, arms folded and an eyebrow quirked upwards.

"Huh?" Yamapi said articulately.

"You don't usually end dates just by going, "Bye, thanks for everything." and leave, do you?"

"This was a date?"

"Wasn't it?" Koyama replied back with an easy smile. "It was a nice one."

Yamapi stared. Paused. Tried to think of something to say, but only managed helplessly. "I didn't think you knew it was a date."

"Ryo-chan was nice enough to let me know what this meant to you," Koyama said, starting to walk towards Yamapi, the smile never leaving his face.

"Ah," Yamapi replied, the only thing he could think to say, other than thoughts and plans to murder Ryo in his sleep.

"So was this a date?" Koyama asked again, in front of Yamapi now. Yamapi exhaled, then realized that he could count Koyama's eyelashes if he so as pleased. His heart skipped a beat.

"Do you want it to be a date?" Yamapi asked, licking his lips.

Koyama laughed, eyes twinkling as he does so. "Yeah. I do."

Yamapi exhaled again. "Good," he muttered just as he leaned in, pressing his lips lightly against Koyama's. As he pulled back, he felt Koyama's eyes flutter closed and Koyama sighed against his lips.

"Proper ending to a date," Koyama mused, eyes opening.

Yamapi grinned. "Not until we finalize a second date."

"Tomorrow night?"

"Now it's a proper ending."

--

Yamapi punched Ryo in the shoulder the next time he saw him (the next day).

"Ow! What was that for?" Ryo snapped, hand clutching his arm.

"For telling Koyama everything," Yamapi retorted.

"Well, if I didn't, then nothing would get done." Ryo grinned, wagging his eyebrows. "Did anything get done?"

"Stop that," Yamapi said, trying to block out just Ryo's eyebrows with his hand. "And stop being so crude."

"Don't tell me I have to teach you that too," Ryo sighed.

Yamapi rolled his eyes just as Koyama walked into the room, unraveling his scarf. Koyama's eyes caught Yamapi's and suddenly, Yamapi felt like whatever Ryo was doing, talking, whatever-ing didn't have anything to do with him.

"Oh God, I get you two together and still you're annoying as shit. What will it take?" Ryo whined.

"Shut up," Yamapi snapped again before walking towards Koyama. They had plans to finalize after all.
