Author's Note: Holiday fic for
partypaprika - I had already been planning on writing her a fic, but then she beat me to it by writing me this awesome Tegopi over
here (although the first thing you'll see is a Koyato but that's awesome too). Um. And so, here's her fic.
Stand...
Ryo likes the way Ueda stands - he's an introvert, Ryo knows and his stance always shows him as such. He always tries to bury himself in the background - blend in with the people in front of him so nobody'll notice him - but Ryo always notices. It becomes a little game with Ryo, trying to spot Ueda in a room full of people and following him with his eyes. Ueda tends to shrink when he gets too much attention, holding onto his illusion that even in the entertainment industry, one can remain faceless and nameless.
But Ryo notices all the time. Ryo notices the shine in Ueda's eyes when he finds something that he's interested in. His back straightens out and his attention is all focused on the person talking in front of him. His hands get fidgety as he moves them around as he talks - like he doesn't know what he wants to do with them. If he's particularly passionate, Ryo realizes that Ueda's glasses start to shift forward or maybe Ueda just pays a little more attention to them because they slip down his nose. He tucks his hair behind his ear every other second and licks his lip every fourth second.
Ryo thinks that the stance Ueda holds when he's boxing is the most beautiful of them all. Ueda takes off his shoes every time, because that's what he's used to and it's what's most comfortable. He drops his shoulders and his eyes are set, his hands in ready position as he moves on the balls of his feet. It's the serious look in Ueda's face that gets him every time - that makes Ryo want to tell Ueda that he can't ever make that face with anyone else, that it's his and his alone. But Ryo won't, because it'd ruin whatever tentative relationship they have - one that was shaky to begin with and one that Ryo feels could crumble if he ever said one thing wrong (he wouldn't put it past himself to do just that).
...by...
Ueda likes the way Ryo watches. He supposes Ryo thinks that Ueda never notices, but he always does. Who couldn't when Ryo was so intent in following Ueda in his every movement? It gets to the point that Ueda feels as though whenever he does something, it's not one person doing the action, but two. Ueda rather likes that though - he never has to fear what it'd be like to have being alone anymore. He hated feeling lonely and even though Ryo's sharp-tongued and emotional and makes jokes that only sound nice to Ryo's ears alone - Ueda wouldn't want him any other way.
Ryo's loyal - it's one of the things about him that Ueda likes the most. No matter what his mouth says and how much he rags on someone, Ryo's loyal to the end. It's a bit of a laugh to say it, but it's how Ryo shows affection. He doesn't have any other way of doing so that won't embarrass him and so, he makes mean jokes. He picks on people and he tells them things they think they'd rather not hear, even Ueda.
But Ryo breaks out of habit every now and then. Every now and then, Ryo'll compliment someone on their good work that day. Or how they acted. Or that their performance was good. Sometimes, Ryo'll open up and show just how vulnerable he can be. And Ueda loves that about him. Ueda loves that he can always learn something new and different when it comes to Ryo, because it makes things exciting and fascinating and Ueda always did love challenges.
...my...
Ryo thinks that everyone thinks he's self-centered. He thinks they're all probably right. He's selfish and has desires and wants - like to never let Ueda away. To never let anyone see Ueda half-naked like he is for the Josei Jishin shoot. He wants to litter Ueda's body with kisses and marks - to let everyone know that he's Ryo's and Ryo's alone. And Ueda seems to let him if those noises he makes at the back of his throat are any indication. Or the hand tangled in Ryo's hair as Ueda arches to meet Ryo's mouth, never wanting to separate.
Nobody knows that Ueda is just as self-centered as Ryo is. Sure, he's not as obvious about it as Ryo is, but that's the beauty in it, Ryo thinks. Ryo likes the self-centered Ueda who wants to keep Ryo all to himself - the same Ueda who made Ryo throw out anything to do with Leah Dizon because he hated the sight of her face inside Ryo's apartment. He likes the Ueda who drags him into closets because Ryo's being particularly friendly with his bandmates that day.
It's a good thing, Ryo figures, that they're in love with each other. Ryo doesn't like one-sided loves and he can't stop himself from being so glad that they'd finally gotten together. That they'd finally stopped fighting long enough to see just how well it could work between them. (Although, that wasn't to say they still didn't fight, because both were still the same stubborn people they were before they got together.)
...side.
Ueda thinks that maybe Jin has good ideas every now and then. Suggesting that Ryo and Ueda should get to know each other just to stop the animosity had been good - making sure they went to an amusement park was even better. Because even though they're comfortable with each other now, it took Ryo freaking out in a roller coaster for Ueda to get comfortable enough in Ryo's presence. It took Ueda getting lost in the house of mirrors before Ryo warmed up. And it took a ferris wheel breaking down before they realized they could actually have a decent conversation.
"Are you thinking again?" Ryo asks, emphasizing the word thinking as though he was always surprised whenever Ueda thought.
"Is that too amazing to comprehend?" Ueda retorts.
"When it comes to anyone in that band of yours, I'm surprised you have enough brains scraped together for one person."
Ueda laughs, leaning against an elbow propped by his knee. "You say this yet you spend time with two out of six of us. What does that say about your taste in people?"
Ryo smirks as he looks up from his magazine. "My taste has obviously gone down the drain." Ueda rolls his eyes before throwing a pillow at his boyfriend before sitting back and watching Ryo read.
Ueda thinks it's times like this where he can do the observing. He always likes what he finds.
