So I'm going all out this November for Nanowrimo and writing something original for a change! This is my experiment to see if I can finish it when it's not fanfic...either that or I'm just lazy, I guess I'll find out :D
I'm super excited about this idea, though. It's fantasy based and has been badgering me for a about a year now, so I have lots of details figured out already.
So anyway, here's a character sheet for my main and secondary characters! Some spaces I left blank because I haven't figured them out yet. Still a WIP!!

Reason or meaning of name: I found out it means "champion" or "chariot fighter" but I really picked just because I liked it.
Nickname: Nol
Reason: Shortened pet name, used by Kerris

Nolan and Kerris grew up in a safe world and are suddenly flung - mostly unprepared - into conflict. Nolan's expectations for himself and his safe/privledged world are changed dramatically. The story involves a group a people called the Gifted and their Chosen protectors who are bound together by the power of a Gifted.
Gifted pairs have high status and can both freelance and work for government. Gifted and Protectors tend to run in families. Lorrides is an old family of Protectors. Merrin is an old family of healers. Power passed on regardless of gender or birth order, very rarely skips generations (in the case of Kerris); a Gifted does not choose to be Gifted but does get to pick their Protector. Nolan expected to be a healer but his younger sister will be instead. Nolan is given his grandfather's ring by his father with the Lorrides crest, who was also a protector after being Chosen by a Gifted.

Ulsa Kelne: Soon to be chosen protector of Yisette, non-romantic bond. Second youngest child and second daughter of Plena/Kelne family.

Kol Diertan : Chosen protector of the twins, younger brother by three years. Eventually joins the five nations to fight. All three are in their late twenties, have been in hiding for more than a decade.
Tilden ??: Retired fire elemental, mentor to Kerris.
Jornel ??: Chosen protector to Tilden. Non-romantic bond. Mentor to Nolan.
Rianne ??: Female gifted seer, first seen in the beginning of story. Talks about upcoming conflict with the other unnamed nation. Very few seers in each generation, highest status.
Dasha ??: Female chosen protecter of Rianne, romantic bond.
(My idea for the seers is that they can see the many different outcomes of a specific choice. So they don't actually one set future but many possible ones. Probably won't use this pair too much, I just need them for plot)
Marek ??: Chosen protector to Lorette. Same year as Nolan. Eventual romantic bond.
Lorette ??: Gifted weather elemental, same year as Nolan. Curly blonde, slightly shrill voice.
(Not sure how important they will be yet, see how it goes.)
Unnamed steward: Steward for the Gifted, works at the capitol school. Facilitates and prepare/organizes transition ceremonies and mentorships. Non-Gifted himself. Probably won't be too important I just wanted to list someone who wasn't Gifted.
So, tons of backstory for Kerris already (I seem to like backstory a lot, I dunno why) and a bit for Nolan's grandparents.
