Tbqh though, I had to re read the fic to answer your question cause I had no idea, I wrote this a long time ago. Still being honest, I don't even know how he died. I was just smashing words together that sounded nice. :0

But, I re read it, and I have an answer I think kind of makes sense. I think what you're asking is just, did Baekhyun die, because of Chanyeol? And was that the same way as Chanyeol? Am I right on that?

It could be that Chanyeol loved Baekhyun once, then Baekhyun died from some disease or smth. So Chanyeol tried to replace him with someone similar. He had a life with them, and then they broke his heart, so he killed himself. That's why Baekhyun was dead before, and is still the cause of Chanyeol's pain. That's also why the boy in the vignette seems familiar, but not Baekhyun.

Idrk. It can be whatever you want it to be. Let's say Baekhyun died before, and had to leave Chanyeol for the afterlife. Now they're together again, but Chanyeol doesn't remember the happiness and love he shared with him, and that's both their pain.
