Seriously, summer is so close I can almost taste it, close enough that I am already starting to act like it's summer (which is an ineffective way of finishing school). It is obviously not close enough for it to be warm, though. Fuck this weather. Fuck it. I left my umbrella at school yesterday which meant that I walked for twenty minutes in the rain this morning to get to school. Halfway down Denny Hill I looked at myself. Everything was a shade darker than it was supposed to be. But I located the umbrella (Vincent) in the locker room so all is well.
Our scene is going well. Mack wants to rehearse all the time and I...do not. I really detest over-rehearsing, as I told her today, it is the surest way to make me fuck something up. But she seems really nervous about it so she wants to run it like six times every day. Luckily it'll be over in a week and John specifically told us NOT to run it overmuch.
Repo on Saturday was interesting. Probably not something I ever need to see in a theater again. I like the movie. I like the movie much better in my house than on a big screen with twenty teenagers singing along (badly) and two drunken middle-aged women screaming behind me. It is not Rocky.
The opera opens TONIGHT!!!!
Dress rehearsals have gone fair to middling. There were some gremlins last night, but that's good because they shouldn't be there tonight. And it wasn't BAD, it just meant some people forgot some of their words, but there weren't any obvious screwups unless you know the opera or speak Italian.
Tuesday night Mel, Alex, Brian and I hung out in Poncho after rehearsal and tried to play piano while they were doing lights. It was difficult because, surprisingly enough, when the lights are dark you can't read the sheet music. So then we went to Dilletante and had raspberry cheesecake and it was delicious.
Then last night Mel and I were heading into QFC for ice cream and got a call from Brian telling us to go to Charlie's so we had a late dinner with him, Alex, Christine, and Meghan. And Jessica and her boyfriend showed up so they joined us. I love Cornish theatre people late at night.
My entire section passed the 20 Moves on our first try, which is practically unheard of so we are all INSANELY HAPPY AND RELIEVED.
No voice today. I am going home in about ten minutes to clean my apartment top to bottom because my parents and sister are in transit to Seattle as I type this and will be here until Saturday. I am excited. Ish.
