As a special bonus to the 3 or 4 people who actually read this blog I'm excited to inform you that, for a change, I have something to talk about. You might even say that I actually have a point for writing today. Believe me, this is a weird for me as it is for all of you... ahem, all 3 1/2 of you.
Last Tuesday I got to go on my very first business trip! As I'm sure you know by now, I hate my job, but come on people! Business trips are just plain fun (I weighed the option of using "plane" there as some sort of clever pun, you may thank me later for deciding against it)!
We flew out of Manchester airport down to BWI (Baltimore/Washington International) and then drove from Baltimore to Lancaster, PA. That's right, Amish country folks! Also, interestingly, the manure capital of America (bet you didn't want to know that). Our home office is down there and I had to attend some meetings about a new MRP (Material Routing/Planning) system that we're going to be implementing at the end of the year. I know, blah, blah, blah, moving on.
The highlight of the trip was Wednesday night when we (me and the three other people who came along) drove up to Baltimore to catch a Red Sox game at Camden Yards. They lost but we still had a great time at Fenway South (there was at least a 50/50 ratio of Sox fans to Orioles fans). Afterwards we walked over to the Inner Harbor and had several alcoholic beverages. The best part of all of this? It was completely on the company dime! =) Did I say we had several alcoholic beverages? What I meant to say was I had several expensive alcoholic beverages. =D
Of course, all of that fun couldn't have come without some price. It seems that traveling in a germ-filled tube twice in three days and staying up late drinking only to wake up early for meetings did take it's toll on my body. By last Thursday night, when I got home, I had a nasty cold. I'm happy to report now though that I'm on the road to recovery and feeling the best that I have in a week.
I feel like there is more to say but I'll save it for another post.
