For those not able to see my Friends-Only posts, yes, I am still alive and well. Despite all of Mother Nature's fury.
The storms that hit my area of Georgia on Mother's Day were terrible. Many large and beautiful old trees were smashed and the whole Macon area is under a state of emergency. My uncle's other house (not on my large property) lost almost all of its trees, but luckily, neither he, nor his house nor his vehicles, was harmed. The yard is a disaster zone, though. Another good friend of mine had his trailer severely damaged- and lost all of his working vehicles! This whole area is seriously wrecked, with power still out in many places.
Since then, I have been clearing away debris, both at my place and at Al's and my friends. It's a major job, moving tree-trunks this huge! Even sawed into small logs! I managed to get my yard almost back to normal today, though I really didn't lose many trees compared to most people. It was a bizarre storm, with multiple tornadoes moving in different directions. I am struck by how a given street has been almost demolished, but the next street over is practically unharmed! I was really lucky, considering how many small buildings were literally blown away. I saw a neighbor's boat prefab shed hanging over the powerlines! No clue where the boat went... maybe the tornado took it off to Oz, or maybe the owner thought he could get some free insurance money!
I actually slept through the worst of the storm. And my RV did not even shift on its concrete blocks! I knew the frame was heavy in these old RVs, but apparently, it's much heavier than even I thought! One of the old untreated wood posts I used for a tarp anchor broke off at the ground, but missed my truck when it fell close by. It was ready to be removed anyway... Of course, all the stuff I had stored under the tarp was soaked, but not damaged.
Gotta go for now- library closing!
