Monday Update

Over the weekend, I got a number of good things finished on the cabin. Dad came Saturday and helped a bit. He's 70 years old, so we did what we could. Friday, I'd already gotten my friend Vern to help me. We got most of the flooring insulation installed, and then Dad and I finished up, and got many of the OSB sheets moved back to the house site. Dad also wanted to see Al's new pond in the back of the property, but the walk almost knocked him out! Mom said he went to bed at an unheard-of hour of 8 pm that evening! I really hope he will be okay, and it seems he will, as of today, but my Dad's not in the best of shape himself. However, Al is improving and may get out of the VA hospital later this week, for another break in between chemo treatments. My silver cat Kamala's wound is almost entirely healed.

I still have to finish several last minutes touches before I can begin installing the OSB flooring (two layers, each 5/8ths, total of 1&1/4" thick!), but I will likely be done with these today. I'm squirting Great Stuff foam into cracks, sealing up holes and taping up more flashing to completely seal off the underside of the cabin with metal. A bit overkill, perhaps- but I have the means to do it, for practically nothing... the insulation panels only cost me 1 dollar each as you may recall. I spent $12 on them. I was given the flashing, metal tape and Great Stuff.

I've moved the Eiao Island stuff to its own Journal Entry.
