Only just finished reading these.

6 excerpts from Smith's journal, and 5 stories they didn't tell him, Otoyomegatari. Exactly as it says on the title.

Four times Terra and Celes connected, and one epiphany, Final Fantasy 6 (Celes/Tina, background Celes/Lock). Celes and Tina together have always intrigued me. Not just the fire and ice dichotomy - their lives have enough in common to make spotting the differences fascinating.

Four castles howl built (& one he had no hand in), Howl's Moving Castle. And that's all the "X times X" fics out of the way!

Listen to the river, Mushishi. Every Mushishi fic is the same, like every Mononoke fic is the same. Only real difference is in quality.

Stable orbits, Seirei no Moribito. Tanda-centric.

An ordinary session, Natsume's Book of Friends. Among the most ridiculously feel-good fics I've ever read, ahhh.

Tiny sideways wishes, Natsume's Book of Friends. "Taki's fine, Tanuma's fine, Natsume's five." Speaking of ridiculously feel-good fics...

Nice Holystone Remains Unafraid to Throw Herself Into Explosive Situations, Baccano!

And find your heart, Tiger&Bunny (Keith/Nathan). Lightly written and in good humor, excellent punchline. Nathan breaks my "no random ships for this fandom" rule, and I fail to care.

There are good things, too, Persona 2 (Eternal Punishment). Tatsuya finding his way.

Prologue to a Journey, Strange Journey. Zelenin prepares for the journey to Antarctica.

stop. rewind. repeat., Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Mami meets Homura for the first time.

Seven days prior, Devil Survivor. Spoilers for Naoya's backstory from description on.

Resolution, Princess Tutu. Fakir and Autor and Duck after the final episode.

By the world forgot, Spirited Away. "Have you always run the boiler room, Kamaji-san?"

To whom you gave life, A Song of Ice and Fire. Catelyn and her children (TV show verse?).

Similarity, ASOIAF (Cersei/Jaime, Brienne/Jaime). NSFW.

In another time, The Count of Monte Cristo (Eugénie/Louise). "Four alternative futures set after the events of 1838, written by a mysterious but well-informed author."

Swallow her whole star intact, Black Swan (Lily/Nina). PWP, but does the characters justice. Also hot hot hot. (There was another well-written fic, set after the movie, but I couldn't concentrate on it and continuing the story after the movie does it disservice besides. The story ended when the movie ended, what happens after doesn't matter.)

The Cautery Wind, Elfquest. Savah recounts an old tale. Elves don't...

To be under the, Lovecraftian. NSFW, interesting viewpoint.

The case of the fat goose with a stone in it, Hark! A Vagrant (Holmes, Watson, stupid Watson). Watson edits a manuscript. Hilarious.

Invisible, Beauty and the Beast (not the Disney one).

The end and the way, Left Hand of Darkness. "On Posthe Tuwa of the Year One in the reign of Argaven XII, Harny Sord of Gernahan gave birth to a pervert."

I see with my eyes, Matrix. An impressive (yet... light? not preaching?) take on gender outside the system.

Such is love, Farseer, Tawny Man (Fitz/Fool). Superior epilogue.

Mother of Wood Deludes the Monk into Binding the Mind-Ape/Guanyin Puts Her Face in Her Hand, Journey to the West. Guanyin's pop culture references got a bit out of hand, but if you're mentally 11, you'll at least laugh. I did.

I am and so are you, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Trillian tries to interview the most dangerous man in the galaxy.

Frost-white and Fire-red, Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell (Arabella Strange/Emma Pole). Exactly what I'd want in a shipping fic: plot, canon continuity, period awareness. Except I don't ship these two, so I guess it was enjoyable enough on its own?

The Heirs of English magic, Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. Tying loose ends in the political sphere re: state of magic as of the end of the novel. More in keeping with the novel's style.

Home, The Moomins. Unrelated, but reading this made me think that the Moomins has great crossover potential with horror...?

The Captain of the Caledonia, Macbeth. ohohoho-- well. AU Macbeth. Short yet impressive. But "--ohohohohohoho" was my initial reaction and I'm sticking to it.

Red Room, Twin Peaks. Interactive fiction. It's so cool.

Faster, Iain M. Banks' The Culture. Best for last: an infernally good 17k standalone fic with original characters, set at some point in the Culture timeline. Amazing tension. "This fic is so unbelievably ambitious and good and on-voice that I'm seriously asking myself if it's just Iain Banks trolling Yuletide."
