So....

A friend of mine departed for South America last week for vacation and left his car on a side street near our apartment. He's to be gone for about two weeks and I offered to start up his car every couple of days while he was gone, so he gave me his keys.

Yesterday, I went to start up the car and found a suprise waiting for me. Just to let you know, I haven't seen the car since last Friday when I went to my parent's house for Christmas and I came back to my apartment on Wednesday.

So, I get to the car and see the the top half of the driver-side door was pried and bent open and some guy was sitting in it. I stand outside the door and he gets out - here's partly what I remember of the conversation:

Guy: Is this your car?
Me: No, it's my friend's car.
Guy: What? Some white guy sold it to me for some drugs.
Me: ......?????
Guy: You know, crack - crack cocaine, rocks.
Me: ....??????WTFFF????????????
Guy: Do you want me to go chasee that guy and (beat him up)?
Me: -_-

At that point, I really didn't know whether this was the guy that broke into the car or was just squatting in it - I really have no proof other than him just sitting in it. So, I ask him for an ID just so I can let the cops know when the time comes that my friend reports it. I really don't think I could do anything to report this myself being that I have no way of communicating to my friend till next week, nor do I have any proof that this car is in anyway related to me other than that I have the key, which doesn't prove anything.

Guy: I don't have an ID, but I live in the red bulding over there with the stairs.. come with me and I can show you my ID.
Me: No thanks. (in fear of getting stabbed or something)

So yea.. aside from the door though, the center console was all hacked up. It looks like they were trying to get at the radio but failed anyway, cause its still there and theres no faceplate on it.

Weird times, and bad news for my pal. :\
