So I went to Thailand

Oct 04, 2005 21:21

I have been back for a couple of weeks now but I have been too lazy to resize pics and put them all on the net. I finally got around to doing it though so I am going to show it off to my 3 or so friends that I have on LJ. I can't really sum up Thailand in just a few words and the pics don't give you the right idea of it either. I forgot what it was like to be in a poorer country as I have travelled all through mexico and guatemala. You can bargain anywhere and people will do anything to make an extra buck. Food and drinks are so damn cheap. Beer costs about 80 cents or so for a can and you can get a big ass meal with lobster for about 15 bucks between two people and that includes 2 beers a piece. Elephant riding was for sure a scary experience but now I have done it so no need to do it again. On with the pics.

The airplane. First time on Thai Airlines.

One of the cheapest restaurants we found, Yoyo. The people loved us there because we kept coming back.

It started raining damn hard and we had to move inside. You can also see superman lurking around, the Thai version.

Try and shoo a fly away from your beer and the tricky fucker takes a swim in it ruining the whole thing.

Shopping on the street. There is tons of it and everywhere you go someone wants you to buy something.

Hotel room. It was actually pretty nice and no tsunami damage.

We ventured off onto a side street to see what thai food was like where the foreigners don't eat. It was so good but my stomach hurt later.

I'll give you 100 baht if you can read this.

My friend Jason insisted on going everywhere with no shirt. He got sunburned really bad.

One of the craziest gas stations I have ever seen. You tell them how much you want and they set this meter then they turn a crank. Then stick the water hose in your tank and it just pours in. Some of them were even Shell stations.

I am not much of a beach person but the beach here was just awesome. Jason made plenty of friends that wanted to sell us jetski rides which we ended up doing anyway.

This one is for you Casey because everyone can take pics of each other taking pics. hahahaha

Actually had some good ribs here at this restaurant which is something Japan knows nothing about.

This was a cool bar that we found. We found it by accident but it turned out to be right around the corner from our hotel and we kept taking the long way to get there. The ladies that ran it were super nice.

Some cool hotel or bar or something with a nice pool that I thought I would take a pic of.

This was our mode of transportation. It was so much fun because it was just a beach town and there were no rules on the street.

At the transexual bar but I couldn't get a clean shot of them because they were all dancing.

Starbucks creepin in the background. ITS EVERYWHERE!!!

Here is that sneaky ninja that you will see hiding in some of the pictures.

Sea canoeing was so fun and we went into caves inside of all the rocks.

Look at this. Even in the water someone is waiting to sell you something.

The floating village. We ate here but I wasn't hungry. bastards!

What a splash. This is the kind of boat we were travelling by.

Now onto the elephant show and riding. This is the last stretch of photos I swear.

Getting sap out of a rubber tree. There is that stealthy ninja again.

Dragon fruit anyone?

The last meal. More expensive than most but well worth it and actually not expensive at all.

Hope that wasn't too much for you all. Oh and hopefully you enjoyed them.
