A barrier broken

See, I like mainstream Indie stuff, not actual indie stuff, so when there's a fad coming along or a bandwagon coming down the street, I usually follow it or jump on it, respectively. For instance, all of these posts that I'm reading on LJ make me want to just get on my computer and start typing my life away. Another example are the patriots. I love em. Same with the Boston Red Sox. It's taken me 18 years to declare a team, but I'm conveniently declaring the winners of the World Series and the future winners of the Super Bowl (man, I fucking hate those fucking giants) as my teams.

But in all seriousness, classes have started, my plate: Macroeconomics (with a funny professor), Physical Sciences 1 (basically chemistry, we learn about shit by studying global warming and cool things; I'm taking it because I'm a closet/ambivalent pre-med), Intro to Social Anthropology, and a seminar called "Why we Should help the global poor: Cosmopolitan philosophy." Last semester went well in terms of grades and shit, and this semester should be less interesting but more or less the same difficulty (at least I hope). All of this stuff you hear about grade inflation is true I think, but it might not be for upper level classes.

Between semesters we had like a 10 day break to do absolutely nothing. I went with friends to the Institute of Contemporary art (and had a few good laughs), went to a comedy club (also had a few good and a few not so good laughs, though who am I to judge jokes?), and went to NYC for a couple of days. We mostly saw Manhattan: Times Square, Central Park, Natrl Hist Museum, Met Museum of Art (because we're pretentious like that), and listened to some smooth jazz (which required us to buy a minimum of 1 drink. we tried to do wine, the guy carded us, so we settled for hot chocolate).

The title of my post "a barrier broken" is in reference to me getting off my lazy ass and starting to play some ultimate. We have practice two times a week, and I went for the first time yesterday. It's been so long since I've done anything athletic, and I'm looking forward to coming back and at least not sucking at ultimate horribly (it took me only one practice to realize all of the shit I was doing wrong).

I'll try and keep you posted, y'all should keep posting, and then we can just have a lot of posts about what's going on.
