This week has been awesome! Like seriously, I have been in such a good mood, and I think it's because Symphonic season is in the air. :)
We're reading the fun stuff now. Like: Roman Carnival, MARS <3, JUPITER <33!!!!, Overture to Candide, Lads of Wamphray (which I play soprano on. <3), and hopefully Le Roi d'ys. I'm so stoked about the planets. Fo doesn't like the transcription of Jupiter, but he's pretty interested in Mars. I really hope we play it. It's awesome. But I'm trying to convince him that we should keep Jupiter in the ranks, just for Spring Concert. (Just to make me happy) If I whine enough, I should get my way. ;)
Anyway, I've basically decided that FSU's going to be really ridiculous, and that I'd rather go to Southern Miss or Stetson. So my parents and I are planning visits. I get the feeling that we're all going to kill each other by the end of the year, haha.
Folsom told me today that he thinks that Mike's still at school. Damn. I really don't ever want to see him again. Ever.
In later news, my little brother is still the biggest asshole I know. He continues to find ways to irritate the hell out of me.
And he's ugly.
This week Ms. Reynolds and I have covered the entire emotional spectrum together, almost. We started off the week pissing each other off. (She's Choctaw alumni- and I was talking about Choctaw A LOT.) Then the next day it was cool. And then yesterday we spent an hour sitting the band office doing the "girl-talk" thing. And we talked about Mike, and Southern, and boys in general, and how Folsom's like my other dad, and what I want to major in..because I'm a little confused about that right now, too. My conclusion is: She's just like everyone else. She has her moments, but for the most part she's pretty cool. I think because we can talk and stuff, I get a little too huffy when she tells me what to do, because I don't always view her as an authority figure. Make sense?
I got a new job and quit the Summerhouse! Well, I put in my two weeks. It just wasn't paying enough to cover my band trip, car payments, food, gas, senior stuff, and band expenses. Belk hired me on the spot at $9.00 an hour. I couldn't refuse that. They aren't as flexible with my schedule, but I need the money more than a life. I'm starting working on Tuesdays, Thrusdays, Saturdays, and half-day Sundays. I'm going to have Fridays off, as a rule. (Except like, the day after Thanksgiving.) I'm staying on at the Summerhouse until Thanksgiving. Then I'm changing my schedule at Belk to be Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. With the occasional Friday. I don't that will be too bad.
And I'm working with Erin! Yay!
If anyone who reads this applies, list me as a reference. ;) Then I get like, 50 bucks or something.
Tonight was bunches of fun, too. Although I didn't think it was going to be. I was planning on going to Kaiman's soccer game tonight, but everyone ditched me, and I wasn't going all the way out there by myself. Sorry Kaiman. <3 Hope you did well, though.
Then, I was going to ride with Troy to Podunk, Florida and pick up his four wheeler. But my mom shot that one down. Which is just as well, we probably would have ended up killing each other.
So I ended up hanging out in the band room until like, 4:00 with Elizabeth and Mandy, just talking while Elizabeth waited for Bobby to get done with soccer practice. Then I went home and freshened up a little bit. Then I went out to B&N, read a little bit of one of Joyce Carrol Oates' books, and then went to the Commons to see if Marika was working. I definitely haven't seen her in forever. Walking in, I ran into a bunch of my band geek friends and hung out with them for an hour and a half, until their movie started. I haven't been to the Commons in forever. It was fun. <3 I never did find Marika, though. And that kind of sucks.
I practiced tonight after I got home. I'm still screwing up the way I tongue "Mueva Los Huesos." It's starting to really piss me off. It's harder on soprano than any other sax, because the mouthpiece is so small. My legato tonguing on alto, tenor, and bari especially are just fine. But with such a small mouthpiece, there's not as much area to work with. Hopefully other reed players will get what I mean. But I'm just going to have to practice it more.
I talked to Mrs. Vikki today! I haven't gone to see her in forever. She's so awesome. <3 She started freaking out when I told her I was considering USM, haha.
But I'm going to shower and go to bed. I'm really tired, and I get to sleep in tomorrow! For once! Then I'm heading over to Folsom's garage sale. Just to bug him. Well, maybe. If I wake up after ten then nevermind. I kind of want to go to the beach tomorrow, and you should want to go with me! Give me a call on it.
