OK.. I love Zen Gardens. I have one on my desk here at work and I have a larger one at home. I have pictures of them and they are just awesome. I guess I started liking them in 9th grade. We had to write a paper on a different culture and I picked Japanese. They are soo interesting! IN that report I wrote about how the Zen garden is a form of Meditation. In fact the Sanskrit word for Meditation is Zen. See the purpose of a Zen Garden is to rid your mind of any chaos in your life and bring you to a place of peace and Harmony. I never though that playing in sand can make you so relaxed.
In a Zen garden the rocks traditionally represented the island of Japan and surrounding islands. The lines drawn in the sand by the rake are to represent traditionally the waves of the ocean. While these meanings have been lost to the average person there still comes a pleasant feeling while raking the sand. Just looking over the lines and swirls that you are making and paying attention to no other thing in the world is soo awesome!
So why did I choose to write about this? Well I was looking on the next for Zen gardens and just cool little facts when I stumbled across this link
http://www.giant.co.uk/even2.html You have to go look at it! It is the coolest thing ever! Could you imagine being in the bathroom and having this? You’d never need another magazine! LOL! I wish I could get one.... Does anyone know what that amount converts to in the USD? If so let me know! Love you all! Hope your day is filled with peace and happiness!
