Writer's Block: Revolutionary Thought

Nov 08, 2008 02:09

I find this uncanny, as in a lecture yesterday we talked about postmodernism and of how religion was the "opium of the people" and of being replaced by things like live events. The resemblance between a religious service and a live event are striking.
The way the crowd reach out to be "blessed" by the performer, and get that euphoric lift afterward a concert. The gathering of people, with the same passion, people fainting, throwing arms in the air, the stage/altar etc.
For me, live events are one of the few times where i actually feel alive - I guess this is what i used to try and find in religion. I like the buzz, and i feel like when your watching music performed and your connected it's the most amazing, almost supernatural feelings.
