So here I am again, working late on a project.
At least it is sort of interesting stuff this time. I'm setting up communications between a verry old PLC and a new PLC using a communications standard called PROFIBUS.
It is based on the 7 layer comms model using token ring network with masters and slaves. It is a bitch of a thing to configure tho because I have to tell the old PLC where the comms card is on the backplane, the SAP #, the link #, the ammount of data to send and where to find it in memory etc. and on top of that the CP5421 communications card also has to be configured by a EPROM chip which has to be errased under UV light which takes about half an hour each time that I want to change it!
