remembering rockstar
so the show ended this morning and finally, supernova has a lead singer. seems so fast, eh? as i'd always say, with the end in mind, why not revisit the beginning?
MOST MEMORABLE (GOOD OR BAD) IN THE MANSION MOMENTS:
-toby rand tradition #1: running around the pool naked for song selection
-toby rand tradition #2: cake in the face, and ryan star crying over it.
-week 3's main event: jill gioia vs.patrice pike over "helter skelter"
-the vegas trip. toby rand: *with the thick australian accent* i'm smashed!
-the rockers walking into song selection room and finding gibson electric guitars for each of them. fuck, i cried.
-magni's family coming over for a visit.
-media day. "there's just this little nerve in me that wants to punch his lights out"
-and finally, dilana going postal by flipping the bird on the cameramen and breaking glass which cuts magni's shiny head open.

-the first part has brooke burke (sigh) make everyone re-live the best and worst moments of the show. we get another look at the early departees: matt, chris, jenny, and born to be mild dana. also, another look at the fights: jill vs. patrice, ryan vs. dana, ryan vs. patrice, jill vs. her songwriting clinic group, josh vs. everyone, etc.
-in that order: DILANA, LUKAS, TOBY, MAGNI.
-what's with the sequence? i preferred dilana at 4th, then lukas, then toby, with magni winning the job of lead vocalist. but no.
-despite many icelandic flag-waving fans, magni's the first to go for the day after he plays a rousing rendition of jimi fucking hendrix's "fire" which i think topped the first time he did it. shit one of the greatest fucking songs ever made. i admit, i'm biased toward hendrix, but if it were my show magni would've won it all just 'cause he kicked ass on that song.
-the final three perform. toby sings "somebody told me" by the killers, in my opinion not the best song choice if you're, as brooke burke (sigh) puts it, "singing for your life". dilana chooses "zombie", and lukas sings "bittersweet symphony".
-toby, in a shocker, is the next one to go. he handles it well, telling the crowd to hush with their resounding boos. well, so much for my prediction. both my top 2 rockers are out.
-supernova, when brooke (sigh) asks them of their decision, tries to prolong the suspense by needing a few more minutes to no avail. everyone's prediction goes as planned: lukas wins. but dilana, in tears, also walks away a winner, getting the chance to join the tour with the house band, and the chance to work on her first studio album with the songwriting help of gilby and dave navarro, an album that dilana promises "will kick AH-S". supernova, for the first time complete, performs "be yourself (and 5 other cliches)" and "it's all love", the latter with magni on rhythm guitar.
