derek and the dominoes - layla and other assorted love songs
the title track "layla" still remains in my book one of the top 10 guitar solos of all-time, thanks to eric clapton (using a fender stratocaster named "brownie") and david allman (using a fucking gibson les paul!!!). the song (#16 on VH1's 100 greatest rock-n-roll songs) features eric clapton's searing kickass guitar solo (probably one of the most famous riffs ever which every rock enthusiast tried to play back in 1970) and the second movement of the 7-minute track, which features the dreamy, fulfilling tearjerker piano instrumental. some kickass music right there. it is said that the song was inspired by clapton's intense desire for george harrison's wife at that time. hmmm...interesting.
ah what the fuck. clapton is god.
