The ride over was terrible, watching them take care of Zaku. Still, Karin remained calm and quiet for everyone's sake and held onto his hand, only moving once for the IV the be placed in his arm, not wanting to let go afterwards.

One they where there, she watched them take Zaku back. Being addressed, Karin looked up to the medic, nodding to show she understood. Before he could turn and leave her there, she spoke up, "I'm sorry, is it possible to use a phone? I wanted to call our parents..."

"Oh yes, if you need to call I'm pretty sure we get a signal here. If not, we have wired phones inside for free use." said the medic as he lead her inside to the lobby. "Once your friend is out of the emergency room and moved into a recovery room, someone will come out and get you."

"Thank you," she spoke out solemnly. She followed his guidance to the lobby, and then bowed her head in gratitude as she walked over to the wired phones. She needed to make a few phone calls, and she knew which one needed to be made first. She flipped open her cell phone and looked through the listing of phone numbers, finding 'Zaku Mom' before picking up the phone provided in the lobby and dialing out to reach Zaku's house. Please, grant me strength, she prayed for herself as she heard the dialtone on the other end begin to ring.

The phone didn't have to ring long before a woman answered on the other side. It was Tomoko. "Hello... Takahashi residence. How may I help you...?" Her voice was worn out and shaky... likely from lack of sleep and worry.

Karin smiled a little into the phone, not really from the relief to be able to reach Zaku's mom, but trying to sound comforting at best as she spoke into the phone, "Hi, Mrs. Takahashi. It's Karin." She wanted to keep it short at first, not sure how to break it to her over the phone to listen to her panic or anything. It hurt to listen to this woman get so upset.

"Karin!!!" Tomoko's voice was excited, hoping that the girl had brought good news for her about her son. "Karin, Karin, did you find Zaku??? Please... let me talk to him..."

"Yes, Yes, Ma'am, I found Zaku, but I am sorry, he's unable to talk with you at the moment..." she bit her lip, not sure how to word it gently, "Is your husband home? You're going to need a driver to get you to Hayama." Assuming that his mom would be in no sane state to be driving the roads.

There was a long and awkward silence. "...Why is unable to talk to me?? Please, Karin, just... at least let him on long enough so I know he's okay."

"I'm really sorry, Mrs. Tomoko," Karin felt the need to be personal, to try to vaguely get the point across, "We're in the hospital right now in Hayama and the doctors are seeing him now.." She leaned back against the nurse's station and braced for impact.
