Hinata knew that although Kakashi was of course, late, it would seem like hardly anytime had passed for the rest of the class. She had been sat in the classroom since before the bell had rung to signify the start of school. Hinata had been sat with a pile of coursework and books since long before the rest of the class had began to filter in. She’d only just packed up her stack of books before Kakashi had walked in.

Upon hearing both Kakashi’s comment about rescuing a kitten, Hinata’s head darted up from the book to try and catch a hint of amusement on Kakashi’s face. As far as she was aware she couldn’t see any, which worried her even more so than she had been before.

Looking at the floor, Hinata shakily raised her hand into the air; as she did so several scenarios worked their way into her overactive mind. One of which, was that the rest of the class were laughing and ridiculing her as she raised her hand into the air, causing her to whimper before whispering just loud enough for Kakashi and a select amount of people around her to hear, “S-Sorry, b-but..” She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself enough to speak without stuttering, “S-Sir? Is the k-kitten okay n-now?”

Kakashi raised an eyebrow at Hinata when the timid girl rose his hand. His eye crinkled in merriment at her question.

"Oh it's as safe as it can be, in it's overly large owner's hands." he peered at the ceiling, thinking. "Or should I say breasts?" Kakashi shrugged. "Doesn't matter. Anyways," his one visible eye narrowed at the class. "Who are the good little kids that did their homework last night and read Act 2 Scene 5 of Romeo and Juliet?" he waited for an answer, his smile very clear beneath his mask. "Hm? Come now, don't be shy."

Gaara had been sat up at the back of the class and had watched all of this little act take place. He highly doubted there had been any fire, or any kitten at all. He had only been in this school a week and the English Literature teacher was always late.

Hell, the first day he hadn't even shown up.

Either way, he raised his hand in reaction to the question. He had read it, in fact he had read the entire thing in one night. Ah, the joys of insomnia.
