R-ONE KAT-TUN No.303 2012.01.23

U: Hello everyone, I’m Ueda Tatsuya
N: Hello everyone, I’m Nakamaru Yuichi
U: Smiley radio go show ha! We’re at the 303rd episode!
N: Ah, I went to eat with Hasebe-senshu [1] the other day
S: (laughs)
U: How many times are you going to talk about this?!
N: This is only the 2nd time
U: So is there any progress?
N: The content is the same as reported 2 weeks ago…
U: Then why are you talking about this now?
N: I just thought of it! It’s Hasebe-senshu!
U: I already said I don’t know who he is
N: But you know who is he now right? He’s the same age as us, the captain of the Japan national soccer team! You must have remember this
U: …I exchanged contact details with Hamed [2] the other day
N: Who’s that? Who’s that? Who’s that?
U: A boxer named Hamed
N: Oh
U: Even though I said it, you don’t know who he is right?
N: I don’t
U: So you see
S: (laughs)
N: How’s he like?
U: How’s he like? He’s a boxer (laughs)
N: So this boxer, how is he like? Is he famous?
U: He’s very famous! He’s awesome…
N: Which level?
U: Level… Probably at a high level
N: Ah~ I mean which level is he at? Is he a world champion?
U: Yes, he is. And the style which he uses to compete is awesome. You know that usually boxers will adopt an Orthodox stance [3] right? But he would be using No Guard [4] stance. You’ve seen that right? Like in “Fighting Spirit” [5]
N: Ah~ Like that!
U: Using one’s natural ability to win
N: Eh~? …So you exchanged email address with him?
U: Nope, that’s a lie
N: It’s a lie!
U: I lied! Because I want you to understand my feelings
N: I was going to continue asking, “I see, what the two of you talk about in emails?”
UN: (laughs)
N: …You lied to me
U: I did, so as to let you understand my feelings!
N: I see, so it’s this feeling
U: Hn~
N: Ah, but I was interested, I even asked you, “How’s he like?”
U: Ah, you did
N: This just goes to show that you’re not interested in what I’m talking about!
U: Nothing like that
N: It’s like that! It’s like that! Maybe it’s not just me, but you’re like that with others too?
U: No, I’m not like that! I’m not like that!
N: So it’s just me?
U: Hn (laughs) Probably
N: (laughs) Don’t joke with me! I’m the one doing this radio programme with you!
UN: (laughs)
N: I see, so shall we start the programme proper?
U: Hn!
N: Then, let’s start tonight’s programme!

N: This week, Ueda will get to pick the song
U: Yes
N: Have you decided?
U: Yes~
N: Please go ahead then~
U: Please listen to Spitz’s “Robinson”

[Do you know that the timing has changed? Telephone Segment]

N: Our programme broadcast has changed to Monday since October. In this segment, we’re going to call our listeners to check if they’re aware of this change
U: Hn
N: We’ll ask, “Which day is R-One KAT-TUN broadcasted on?” and see if they’ll answer “Monday”.
U: Hn
N: By the way, we’ve done this segment before in October
U: Hn
N: Everyone answered correctly at that time. Shall we start?
U: Hn!

(Phone ringing, the ring tone is “BIRTH”)

N: Ah, it’s “BIRTH”! Akko-san, 20 years old
A: Hello~
N: Hello~ We’re calling from Bunka Hoso’s R-One KAT-TUN. Is this Akko-san?

N: Wow, really? Thank you very much!
U: Did you buy? Did you buy? Ne, did you buy?
N: Hey, if you say it like this, people will feel obliged to buy
U: (laughs)
A: I’m really surprised~
N: Is this a good time to talk?
A: Yes, it’s okay!
N: That’s great
U: By the way, did you test drive the black or white car?
A: There is only the white car so I drove that
N: White is very popular too
U: Black is very cool! It has a high-class feeling
N: If it’s for the ladies, white is also a good colour
U: If it’s for the ladies, blue is also good
N: Blue is good too, there are many colours
N: First, even though this is a surprised telephone call, we have a question for you. “Which day is R-One KAT-TUN broadcasted on?”
A: Monday night
N: That’s correct
U: Hn
N: Do you listen to the broadcast?
A: Of course! Every week!
N: Ah, I’m happy to hear that!

A: I don’t know how many kilometres that was
U: Is it okay to just drive the distance you want?

N: I’ve heard of that
U: It’s in “Fighting Spirit”~
N: (laughs) You’re talking about “Fighting Spirit” again
U: When he went to Aomori, he made that critical step
N: I’m not familiar with “Fighting Spirit”, when was that?
U: (laughs) There was Hachinohe boxing
N: I see
U: Hence I remember that, I[‘ve heard of Hachinohe from there
N: Ah~ I see
U: Ne, do you speak dialect? Hachinohe dialect… Aomori dialect?
N: Do you usually speak dialect?
A: I do speak dialect…when I talk to my grandmother
U: Do you usually not speak dialect?
A: Yes, I don’t
N: Eh~ Are you alone right now?
A: Yes
N: I see. Are you outside?
A: Yes
N: Sorry about that!
A: It’s okay

A: I’ve left Suzuki. I’m now shopping outside
U: (laughs) Aren’t you signing the contract for Solio now?
N: Then we’re disturbing?
U: Yes
A: No, it’s really okay
U: So you’ve bought the car
N: Ah, you’ve bought the car?
A: Nope, Solio is a bit too expensive
N: (laughs) If you don’t buy it at the spur of moment, you won’t buy it when your thoughts settle down
U: (laughs) Buy it! Buy it! Buy it after test driving it!
N: Hang on! Hang on! Hang on!
U: (laughs)
N: You can buy the car later. We’ve checked with our listener the programme broadcast timing, as well as confirmed Suzuki Solio’s popularity
U: I get it
N: Good luck for your national exam!
U: Work hard!
A: Yes, thank you very much! I’ll work hard!

UNR: (laughs)
N: By the way, has Risa-san gone for the influenza vaccination?

N: It’s better to go
U: Majissuka? [6]

U: “Is this a work command?” [7]
N: Shut up!
UR: (laughs)
N: This guy’s been hooked on imitating Mita recently
R: He said, “I understand” [7] on the radio the other day too
UN: (laughs)
N: So do you have anything to say or any questions to ask KAT-TUN?
R: Eh, what should I ask…? Mum, do you have anything to ask KAT-TUN?

U: Majissuka? Everyone often say “Majissuka?”

[Reviewing this episode - Ending Corner]

N: This week’s high tension phrase is, “I just test drove Solio!” by listener Akko-san
U: This line was great! I was surprised!
N: I got surprised at the timing of our call too!
U: She probably went to test drive Solio because of us
N: Possibly~ That was great timing! We’ll continue to call out, to possibly meet such accidents
U: You mean good incidents~
N: Yes, we’ll continue to call out so as to meet good incidents
U: Okay
N: We’ll see you next week
U: Okay
N: Next week
UN: Please tune in to us too!

Translator’s notes:

[1] Nakamaru refers to Hasebe Makoto here. Senshu means team member and Nakamaru addressed him like this to refer to his title. Nakamaru first mentioned that he ate with Hasebe-senshu on R-ONE KAT-TUN No.301 2012.01.09.

[2] Ueda refers to Naseem Hamed here. He is an English former professional boxer, WBO, WBC, IBF, & Lineal featherweight champion, and European bantamweight champion.

[3] An Orthodox stance is where the boxer places his left foot farther in front of the right foot. This is mostly used by right-handed boxers, as it favors the boxer’s stronger, dominant side.

[4] No Guard stance means that the boxer hangs his two arms down and does not use them to protect his body. If you have watched Ashita no Joe movie starring Yamashita Tomohisa, his character Joe adopted No Guard stance in the boxing matches.

[5] Fighting Spirit, known in Japan as The First Step (Hajime no Ippo), is a boxing manga and anime series created by Joji Morikawa. The plot follows the story of high school student Makunouchi Ippo, as he begins his career in boxing and over time obtains many titles and defeats various opponents.

[6] “Majissuka?” literally means “Really?”. Recently, Nakamaru has also been hosting a segment named “Majissuka?”, where he goes around Japan discovering new trends and places, saying “Majissuka?”. This segment is in the weekly news variety show, “Shuuichi”.

[7] “Is this a work command?” 「それは業務命令ですか?」and “I understand” 「承知しました」are lines from the drama, Kaseifu no Mita. I believe Ueda is a fan of this drama; this is the 3rd time he mentioned something related to this drama on R-ONE KAT-TUN.
