I know I've tried this before, but hey, I'm doing it again.
I quit coffee.
Yes.. I replaced it will tea but it's GREEN tea, and not putting sugar in it or a milk substitute. SO that's a big difference with my intake of caffeine, sugar and ...well... can't quite say dairy at all times, but the fat and sugar that's in what ever dairy or dairy substitute I'm using [usually sweetened soy milk, almond is the best, but the almond milk up here makes me want to vomit. or I use that fake powdered creamer which we all know is scary]
I weened down over the past week. I drank more one day when a friend came over and asked for coffee[because I ALWAYS had a pot made], I didn't so I decided to make half a pot. He only had one cup, so I ended up drinking 3 more cups after my limit.
For those who may not know why coffee is a serious problem for me...... --I know my old co-wokers knew just a bit, and most people always seen me with a Dunkin' ice med or large in my hand [wasn't usually Dunkin, I just reused the cups]-- I didn't just drink a cup, or a few cups, or the cup size of a Dunkin large a day, I drank anywhere from 2-4 pots of coffee. and I liked my coffee VERY sweet. I have no idea how many spoons, I know about 4-5 splenda in a 16oz cup, or if i got it from dunkin i would get a large with caramel in it AND 5 splenda. Just usually sugar I stopped spooning cuz it takes longer, so I usually used a pourer instead.
I always said my only vex in my diet on a daily basis is coffee. I got down to 2-4 CUPS, not pots, in the past week. then I would drink water or tea the rest of the day. 2 days [now this will be the 3rd day] just tea or plain water. I started adding a bit of lemon to the tea. I hate lemon, but it's good for you. I can barely taste it. usually i like green tea plain, sometimes i put some honey, mostly just plain.
Also, this morning[it's 12:30pm] I haven't had anything but water so far. just only recently made tea.
I Already no longer have that NEED for coffee right when I get up. I'm less moody. my headaches have been much worse... I believe that's the caffeine... it was like aspirin to me... migraines have been ok. I have learned years ago to sense them ahead [called an aura, also called that for sensing seizures as well], and will just go away for a bit. Hasn't made a difference.
All in all I sort of feel better. maybe it's half and half. but because I know it's DOING better to not have coffee, it outweighs the bad. And eventually the cons should go away.
