Youmacon 2008
I haven't blogged for a while. I'm getting bad at this -_-
So I'm over my sickness just in time for Youmacon. Working on my Maya costume while sick was absolutely hellish. I would go to work, then go to Joann's to get crap for the cosplay, come home and attempt to sew for a couple of hours at most, and then pass the hell out.
The costume? It wasn't bad for a costume that took less than a week to do. However I would like to remake the shirt and part of the skirt. Maybe put on a new hood as well. People still thought it was pretty awesome so I'm satisfied. Of course the only people who recognized it were the HJU group since they know of Kamen Rider Kiva.
Youmacon itself wasn't very fun. There was absolutely NOTHING to do on Friday. I was kinda pissed off that entire day because I felt like that $45 just went down the drain. However... one person saved the entire weekend for me and that was Mark Musashi XD Everyone went drinking Friday night so I just hung out with Lauren and Derek that night. Woke up and headed downstairs with Vinh to meet up with Lauren for lunch at the hotel restaurant. Then everyone decided to go do their own thing I guess. I hung out with Lauren and Derek outside for a while until Mark's panel at 5pm. Ran into Keith and kC outside too XD Took pics and stuff. Well when we finally got into the panel, we waited a few and then Mark comes in. He sure looks a lot more tan than in the shows he has appeared in. He also looks a lot more asian. Anyway, the panel breezed through. An hour seriously flew by. But what he had to share about his experiences in acting and martial arts was really interesting. Also he shared a lot of information about GARO and what goes on behind the scenes.
So the panel is over and I go up to the front row to meet up with Keith since he wants another picture together. The autograph session is right after the panel upstairs so I follow Mark upstairs like a little stalker XD I know... Jonnie is so proud. The line wasn't too bad. I asked him to sign my GARO poster and he was very impressed by it XD He signed way on top near the ZERO armor. I asked him if he would sign my program book for Jonnie since he couldn't make it, and then asked for a pic. Of course ya know everyone that went up pretty much kneeled beside him for a pic so I was gonna do the same. All of a sudden I hear, "You came all the way from Ohio and you're not going to share a chair with me?" LOL I must've turned 7 shades of red. Picture is up on my facebook. He is seriously so sweet and down to earth <3
After that, I went upstairs and hung out in Lauren's room for a while and then got changed out of my costume. Was heading downstairs since Lauren won an award for her cosplay costume. Ran into Keith by the elevators and he invited us to hang out with him and the HJU guys since they're shooting a fight clip with Mark XD We ended up dicking around the hotel for a while and coincidentally ended up at the place they were going to shoot the skit XD!! Lauren and I got to be extras =p Anyway, the entire thing took about 2 1/2 hours. During that time period, poor Keith got KO'ed by Mark XD!!! I was talking to Dayna and all of a sudden we see a fist and heard the sound of that fist connecting with Keith's face ^^;;; ouch.... of course it was an accident but now Keith has bragging rights. He got punched in the face by the one and only Mark Musashi. Of course when it happened, all the girls pulled out their cellphones and started texting other HJU members XD!!! I think by the end of the night, all the girls had a crush on Mark. I mean who wouldn't like a guy who could crack someone's head open just by kicking them XD!! Man... he kicks high.
Anyway, after the con is over and everyone is back home, many of us added each other on facebook and myspace. Dayna's comment on my myspace totally cracked me the heck up. Since she's like already taken, she was like saying how I should've asked Mark for his number since he's single. Yeah right @_@ Though he isn't too old or anything... ANYWAYS... @_@...
I had a wonderful weekend thanks to the craziness of Saturday. Oh, and major kudos and thanks to Kelly for helping me out with my costume and my nails <33 It would've taken me forever if she wasn't there. Overall, hanging out with friends and meeting Mark = win. The convention itself = bleh...
Next convention will by Ohayocon. I believe Keith, Dayna, and kC will be in attendence which will be cool. Some of the RSCC/HJU guys want to meet up at Otakon so I believe I will be in attendence for that convention next year as well.
