Resolutions!

New year, must do some good.

As every year, I post some resolutions in order to make life a little better for myself. Sempai Wetterstrand in Kempo said that it's up to every single person themselves to make themselves better. That's exactly what life if about to me and I certainly want to be more happy all the time. I am pretty happy now, but there's still much to improve, otherwise - what's the point in all this? So here we go:

1. The usual: Smaller Kati

I shall add that my improvement of health has been a good resolution last year, since I am indeed in a better condition. My goal has been 5 excersises per week and for half a year, there's only been a couple of weeks when that did not happen and even some weeks when I did more. I am very pleased. Of course I've had all the time in the world as I've been on a maternity leave. This is why in March, I must make changes into all the routines and think of how I can continue excersising and still go to work... My plan is this:

- Walk to work at least 4/5 times! Because we live so close now, it's only 15minutes one way. Not the ideal workout, but takes no time at all and takes less gas too.
-Continue Kempo 2-3times/week. 2 times normal practise and once taking A with me.
-Swimming once a week in the morning before going to work?

Excersising is really not the bigger problem, eating is, so I think that in general, that's where most changes need to happen. First of all, no 'herkut' for January. No buying of cheese period. Not even parmesan. My wallet will also thank me on this, cheese just is bad for me, I cannot think otherwise.

2. Get my son to sleep through the night without waking and without eating... The plan is to try and do this by March, but we shall see. This would guarantee that I am not a zombie at work. It would be so great to sleep like 5h periods per night... It's been 8 months since I've slept that way. I hope I can get back on that horse.

3. Less spending, save up for bath room renovation and for a holiday. I know that I only have 1,5months until I get my salary back, thank god for that, but still I should spend less. There's things that I would like to do like have a skiing holiday in Lapland, but this year it's just too expensive (well, also I'd have to talk my husband into that). I'd like to go for a Kempo trip somewhere this year as well. Restart the excel sheets

4. Take more time for marriage... That I guess is every small child's parent's problem. Go out at least once a month, even if the films in the cinema suck and restaurants in Jyväskylä suck even more. Plan a night away from Tops when he starts to sleep through the night.

5. Advance PhD: Publish at least two articles, preferably one in a journal. Do around 20 credits for the PhD on the studies.

6. Continue cleaning once per week (or get a cleaner if you can afford it)

7. Continue watching good films (Virpi and I have already started to watch IMDB's Top 250 list - I have 85 films to watch and if we watch around 2 films/night once a week, that should only take us this year and we can even take some weeks off:) AFI Top10Top10 has finished now. It was good to see it, but also there was some junk there. In the Autumn I also saw 'Tree of Life' which won the Cannes film festival this year and made the choise for me to NOT watch the Cannes winners next because it was so SHIIIIT.

8. Do my third dan.

9. Spend quality time with Alexander:) Read to him, play with him and enjoy him being the most perfect little man.

10. Throw a birthday party

Overall our lives are pretty perfect right now. The above topics are ones that I feel I can achieve, but this year I'm not factoring in any delusions of reading books or soving quilts. I know it's not a time in my life when I could achieve things like that, so I shall happily just continue the little goals that I've started and not try something that is never going to work out in this time frame. Looking at the list there, I am amazed that one human life *does* contain around enough time for ALL THAT and possibly even some more.

Some more this year could be for example:
- A trip to England
- A visit or two to Kajaani/Ii/Oulu
- Some time in the summer cottage
- Some tennis
- A trip to a SK camp somewhere other than Jyväskylä
- Trip to Sitsit
- Shooting an amateur film
...

But I am not making any promises on 'some more'. Que sera, sera.
